Fairbrass hints at MW2 expansion

"Other little bits" discussed with 'Ghost'.

Craig Fairbrass, who voices Ghost in some cheap little shooter that came out this week we can't remember the name of, has hinted that he may be called upon to supply dialogue for new content.

Chatting with Eurogamer on the camo carpet at the Modern Warfare 2 (ah!) launch premiere in Leicester Square on Monday night, the hulking British actor, who played Gaz in the original MW, revealed how excited his kids were about his character featuring in a DC Comics series, adding: "They're talking to me about other little spin-offs. I'm just really, really pleased and happy to be a part of it."

Pressed on whether there were more game roles on the horizon, he teased: "They're talking to me about doing some other little bits for this. It's lovely being in Los Angeles being part of this. It's amazing."

On the reaction to the controversial "No Russian" airport scene in the game, he said: "You can understand that. At the end of the day it is a game, for adults not for children, so as long as you're responsible and do the right thing."

Meanwhile, fellow British actor Billy Murray, who reprises his role as Captain Price in the sequel, was dismayed to learn of UK politicians debating the game's content in Parliament. He told us: "They should be arguing about other things, looking after our country and getting us out of Iraq, shouldn't they?"

You can see more from Fairbrass and Murray - both of whom used to be in Eastenders, though only the former got to cop off with Bianca - plus all the other action from the glitzy London premiere over on EGTV.

A chance for MW2 DLC and expansions, who would have thought, good thing this guy let that slip or nobody would have been expecting it.....
  • andywilkie35 #3 2 years ago

I think its a shame that you haven't mentioned his roles in Eastenders and as one of the bad guys in Cliffhanger - two utterly defining moments of his career! He was f***ing Bianca behind her mum Carol's back! One of the greatest storylines ever told! COME ON!

Errr EG, saying that Price is still in it is quite big bloody spoiler!
  • GlassMoon #7 2 years ago

The way the main menu is laid out certainly looks like there's gonna be expansions/DLC.

Glad I did that bit last night before reading the massive spoiler in this article!

Anyone else still think MechWarrior 2 when they see MW2? Or am I just showing my age there?
  • Vivid #12 2 years ago

Well, I finished the game on 'regular' last night and it was about as mad as a sack of badgers, nope mad as a bloody lorry. The plot was so confused and incoherent that it made Halo2/Halo3 look like a bloody Tom Stoppard play. Couldn't Activision hire a proper writer for their mega franchise? Getting a 12 year old so hopped up on Sunny Delight and Michael Bay movies that he thinks he's James Bond does not make for a good script consultant.

Great set pieces, excellent mechanics and epic moustaches; but no bloody sense what so ever. If the online section wasn't so strong I would feel severly short changed by this game.

I wish he'd explain why IW decided to confuse an already shambolic plot even further by reusing the guy who did Gaz to voice a new character, leading to lots of "wait, is the guy with the mask supposed to be Gaz or not" type confusion.
  • XdarXideX #14 2 years ago

I'm sorry, what? The storyline and script were just fine. In fact I would say it was excellent and exciting. I mean... I can see where people might get confused, but shortly after things are often explained in the transitions between levels.

British troops pulled out of Iraq in the summer. Good job with the knowing-what-you're-talking-about...

Can't believe you didn't mention his role in the mighty 'Proteus' about a genetically modified sea beasty, or as Fairbrass refers to is: "a fish with a fackin drug 'abit". Class.

Also, cheers for the spoilers EG, jeez.

    @Paperghost

Surely an actor is capable of playing two distinct roles? If the voice of both characters sounded exactly the same, that is the actors fault. I assume the character models looked different?
  • smoothpete #19 2 years ago

Is Ghost Gaz or not? I assumed seeing as it was the same voice that they intended it to be the same character, and you never see Ghost's face
  • Stiggy #20 2 years ago

haven't we pulled out of Iraq already? DCI Beech needs to read up on the times a bit.
  • Raiten #21 2 years ago

oh yay, expansion hinted for MW2!
There's no doubt they'll milk everything they can out of it, and if there's gona be "expansion" it'll quite likely turn out as: ooh well guys, we added the DLC map packs and made the new single player campaing like 2h long! and oh oh one new multiplayer mode! sorry we should call it now MW: ADST and it's a fullll realy fulll game on its own, not a expansion anymore! so you shall pay us 50e since it's not an expansion anymore !

"Surely an actor is capable of playing two distinct roles? If the voice of both characters sounded exactly the same, that is the actors fault. I assume the character models looked different?"

Well yes. But not in the direct sequel surely. The voice is identical. You never see the face and who knows about the character models, not detailed enough to tell. Plus the guy is called "Ghost", so y'know, could be some kind of reference

Is Ghost the ghost of Gaz?!?!?!?!

  • Quint2020 #25 2 years ago

Captain Price isn't dead!? Awwww man, spoileriffic.

Is Ghost the ghost of Gaz?!?!?!?!

Noooooooo Gaz!!!!!!!!!!!! You brought all the painful memories flooding back. :(

Quite liked Gaz and the SAS boys.
  • Eraysor #27 2 years ago

I thought there was going to be an expansion from the moment I played the game, mainly because the campaign ("For the Record";) actually has a name, allowing the original campaign and any DLC to be easily differentiated.
  • Wolverfrog #28 2 years ago

    I miss Gaz...

Haven't finished Modern Warfare 2 yet, I wonder if Kamarov makes an appearance? Nikolai does, so I assume so.
  • jimbo118 #29 2 years ago

Well Ghost can't be in any form of sequel unless he's flame-proof :o

Indeed, they could be from Maine. Or.... wait that is all the accents now.

To promote Modern Warfare 3, Activision will be holding a two day event called Call of Duty: Experience! The official Call of Duty: MW3 site was launched on May 18. It currently has an interactive map that was seen in the MW3 teaser trailers. I'm sure we will see the perks soon.
