Fable 2 Pub Games to be patched News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

21 August, 2008

A patch to rectify the money-making exploit in the Fable 2 Pub Games "is on the way".

Developer Lionhead prepared us for the fix alongside some general hints and tips for the card games that are based entirely upon luck.

"If you are wondering about a 'much talked about' exploit, just ignore it (and know that a patch is on the way)," reads a Lionhead post on the Fable 2 blog.

The Fable 2 Pub Games exploit allows you to craftily bet much more money than specified by pressing a shoulder button on the Xbox 360 pad at a specific itme. Money won will be transferable into Fable 2 this October. Oops.

The Fable 2 Pub Games cost 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) from Xbox Live. Check out our Fable 2 Pub Games review.

How about you get your fucking priorities right and sort out the code situation for us that you have monumentally fucked up instead of fixing a 'bug' that doesn't spoil anyone's enjoyment of the game (and indeed enhances it for some) that's only there because you released such a massive pile of shite anyway, while we sit here fucked off at the lack of any explanation and seriously contemplate cancelling our pre-orders on fucking principle.

still waiting on codes too :( dont know who to blame though; Lionhead? Gamestation? Microsoft?

bah, will just go back to pre-ordering with play.com at this rate, the CE comes with the pub games anyway, not fussed having crap loads of gold, just wanted the 15 items.

I was hoping I would have my pre-order code before they fixed this. Looks unlikely now.

They obviously screwed-up sending the codes out at first but now I'm wondering whether they are deliberately holding them back until the bug is fixed, stopping people getting a million gold to start the game with.

People on the Lionhead forums state that Gamestation started delivering the codes yesterday with GAME to follow very soon.

Thankfully I'm not fussed about the gold, just the items. I'll be honest though, I've used the "glitch" to get out of debt.

But it makes you think... for a game based on "luck" and havng an achivements of "get 2,500 gold", hitting over 70,000 in the RED shouldn't be possible. Luck my arse.

So I've jumped myself to 20k in the black, and I'll get the items, then deliberatly lose cash till I'm back to 2,500g.

The games arent that bad, defo not worth 800 points though.

Spinnerbox IS just pure luck, i went from being around 20k in debt to 30k up within about 5 minutes. I've got a decent strategy to get through all the tournaments in Keystone which worked more or less first time to get at least in the top 5 which unlocks the items:

(3x bet on Arches 4-7 & 14-17, 2 or 3x bets on Trips and all Triples, 2 or 3x bets on Pair and Run. A triple of some kind usually comes up within the first 3 games of the tournament which gets you a bigish bank and into the top 5. Just a case of then taking off the Triple bets and changing them to 2x bets on 4-9,12-17,Red,Black,Diamond and Circle. When youre safely in the top 5 with the last game to go just take off all your bets apart from the Arch bets. Worked for me first time almost everytime unless the CPU got lucky on a triple or 10 & 11 kept coming up, found that strategy on another site but i forgot which)

Both Keystone and Tower of Fortune (sans cheat) are easy to beat TBH.

My Keystone is:
Bet on 3 and 18, 9, 12 and 15.
First roll: Bet on 111 or 666 coming up, and trips. You'll probably lose, but if you win you'll get tonnes of cash.

After that, always bet on runs, trips, and pick 9, 12 or 15, and bet on their trip too (so trip 3, trip 4 or trip5) and always bet on black and red and odds and evens. The odds aren't 50/50, they're better, but they generally play as less than 50/50, so you'll make a profit. It's rare to lose doing that.
