Earthworm Jim HD out today on PS3
Eight quid soil you'll pay.
Gameloft's touched-up version of vintage platformer Earthworm Jim is out today on PS3 for £7.99/€9.99.
That's a lot of money, but Earthworm Jim HD works hard for it. The single-player campaign has had an HD facelift, for starters, and three exclusive levels added that take place in a never-before-seen setting.
Local and online co-op for up to four people has been worked in, too, and spans 15 multiplayer levels.
Earthworm Jim HD was released on Xbox Live Arcade in June. Eurogamer didn't review the game, but footage can be found after the screenshot gallery below.

It did! It was called Intestinal Distress and I remember it creeping the hell out of me as a kid. Nowadays it's one of my favourite stages. The Mega CD/PC versions also had another stage on top of that called Big Bruty which had a similar, unnerving vibe.

I'm not entirely sure. Checking the first bit of the 15 minutes of gameplay video shows that this version does include the new section of New Junk City (where Jim is sliding around out of his suit) which is exclusive to the special edition. If that's the case for the rest of the game then I imagine this is actually a HD version of the special edition with an additional 3 exclusive stages. This would be awesome and totally worth the money.
However, it would be nice if Eurogamer reviewed the game and cleared this all up for us *wink, wink*.

Would I enjoy this as well?

If you like the sequel you'll love the original. I personally prefer it to EWJ2 which I felt was a little 'gimmick-heavy'.
@azazel_fallenangel
From what I gathered in a previous trailer, multiplayer consists of up to 4 Jims working together on 1 screen to beat the baddies and get to the end of the level. From what this article says it would also appear that the multiplayer levels are completely seperate from the main game which seems to be a single-player-only experience.

Ghehe, it's more expensive because PSN is free. Or because XboX has cross-game-shit, which is extremely important these days.

Not so in the US of A. 800 MS Pts is equivalent to $10, which is what equivalent games are charged as on the PSN. Must be a European thing.

Love how they've kept the original feel of the gameplay (particularly the character control) identical to the original.
