E3: More F.E.A.R. this year

Expansions for PC, 360.

Vivendi Games has turned off the lights again and announced a new F.E.A.R. expansion pack for PC and Xbox 360.

The new campaign is called Perseus Mandate and offers us a fresh perspective on the original campaign. So off we go to the creepy halls of Armacham as a different soldier in a different team, to discover a parallel story the first assault team never saw coming.

On top of this there are new enemies to unload bullets into, new weapons, and enhanced AI - a tall order considering how good it was in the original.

Perseus Mandate is the second expansion pack for F.E.A.R. on PC, following Extraction Point that came out late last year. Both of these will be bundled together in a F.E.A.R. Files compilation for Xbox 360 - with each playable as a stand-alone game, so you don't need the original to play them.

Perseus Mandate and F.E.A.R. Files are expected towards the end of the year.

Monolith created the original F.E.A.R. game, which earned itself almost top marks from Eurogamer for its cinematic gameplay and eerie atmosphere. However, TimeGate Studios handled Extraction Point under Monolith's direction, and Vivendi hasn't mentioned who will be developing Perseus Mandate.

Prices for each are yet to be mentioned, too, but more information is expected from E3 this week.

Head over to our F.E.A.R. Files gallery to see what goes bump in the night.

I enjoyed FEAR so very much and I would go as far and say that it is the best FPS on the Xbox 360 even it it is pretty much a PC port job.

How come they're totally ignoring the PS3 then? Seems strange, baring in mind they released the first one on there.
F.E.A.R scared me shitless by the way, well not scared, more made me jump like a cunt!
The A.I was fannytastic though, so i'll welcome a bit more with open arms.

I have yet to finish this game. The game is nice but there is something missing - it's fun when I play it but I have no incentive whatsoever to really continue playing. Nothing is happening, and the events so far don't grab me. It just does not keep my interest for a long time. Do the later parts get better? I am about an hour or so after being smashed through the window/wall outside because of the explosion.

I suppose they didn't want to create another inept port for the PS3 then, thank heavens..

    @ Der_tolle_Emil.

I actually found the game got more boring as it went on. In the end i was playing solely to finish it, rather than because i was enjoying it.

The multiplayer isn't bad though, it's the only reason i still play.

The start and end of fear were good. It was just the entire middle part that sucked. It was just office block after office block until I just wanted it to be over. Most of the scary bits just weren't scary at all, but it did occasionally nail some nice atmosphere.

I played the demo and couldn't get on with that annoying camera sway when you run. Can you turn it off in the full game anyone? Makes me feel motion-sick!

About the AI: Yes it was good, but surely not amazing? If not everybody had told me it was so good, I'd never thought about them twice. And yes, I played on the hardest difficulty. I can't name a game with a better AI, it's definitely decent and all, but I don't think it is such a big leap above the rest in this respect that it deserves the attention that it got.

Hooray, more FEAR. One of the best FPS experiences out there.

The F.E.A.R Files is a great idea.

I've played the original on PC and enjoyed it a lot, but I can never be bothered to install expansions for some reason.

A 360 version with both in it would be awesome.

The demo was one of the best I'd played, and I was looking forward to a another shit-me-up games after playing Condemned.

To say FEAR disapointed me is an understatement :(

Cloned soldiers, you say? Saves the bother of worrying about any variation in uniforms / voices between the different classes, eh?

Does anyone know why there is no Playstation 3 version of the additional stuff?

I mean, I can understand the business reasons why games like Command & Conquer 3, Two Worlds, Overlord, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Bioshock, and many others are released only for PC and Xbox 360.

But with F.E.A.R. the situation is different. F.E.A.R. was also released on the PS3 (six months later, as usual), but the point is it was released. Why doesn't the Playstation 3 get any of the extra stuff that the PC and Xbox 360 are getting?
