DSi Shop stock to expand weekly

Redesigned handheld out on Friday.

Nintendo plans to refresh the DSi Shop with new games each week.

"Like the Wii Shop Channel, the Nintendo DSi Shop will offer a growing library of downloadable games, with new titles added every week," said the platform holder on its press website.

Because of this, Nintendo has decided to rename the Wii-kly Update newsletter to Nintendo Download. The first edition will be available from 6th April.

The Nintendo DSi, which launches on Friday for GBP 149, has bigger and brighter screens, two cameras, an SD card memory slot, onboard Flash memory, better Wi-Fi support and some aesthetic nips and tucks. It also, on the other hand, region locks DSi-specific software.

Filthy R4 cards used by rum-drinking pirates are reported not to work with the new handheld.

Head over to our in-depth analysis of the Nintendo DSi for a reason to splash out.

Nope, I've got one already. You hear that.

I'VE HAD A DSi for months! HA!

Please chaps, let's wrap up this "filthy R4" business, eh? I accept I'm probably in a minority, but my R4 is used solely for homebrew, and I know I'm not alone in that respect. With the exception of maybe Professor Layton, Still Alive was the best DS game I played last year.

That aside, I'm waiting for the first Advance Wars. The original was still about 30 quid when I last checked eBay.

I'm bothered! Looking forward to the weekly DSi store updates..just hope they aren't mini-games from DS games like Mario 64 DS etc...cause thats bad recycling! I want original titles please!

My DS Lite is good for the moment, but I'm sure I'll get one of these eventually.

I've been seriously tempted, but at this time I've come to the conclusion that I won't be getting one on Friday. I'd like to at least know what to expect from the DSi Shop before I splash out on the console, especially if it's something I'll use less than the GBA slot on my existing DS.

Would it kill Nintendo to let us know what's going to be in the DSi store on Friday? There's secrecy and then there's taking the piss.

Will the DSi Shop use the same points account as the Wii does?
  • jonsaan #9 3 years ago

Oh goody, more content that has been available for years and years to be slowly drip fed via a painfully shit weekly release schedule. Bravo!
  • jonsaan #10 3 years ago

    @spookyzombie

No it won't. According to 1UP and Giantbomb.

""Like the Wii Shop Channel, the Nintendo DSi Shop will offer a growing library of downloadable games, with new titles added every week," said the platform holder on its press website."

On it's press website for the American market, you mean? Which has no relation to it's press or release schedule for Europe?

"It also, on the other hand, region locks DSi-specific software.

Nobody knows that yet, they haven't released any DSi-specific software. Aside from the DLC, and that's not necessarily region-locked, you just can't download it from other countries.

DS games are two expensive for most I witnessed a family of four on the train boith kids had ds lites and both used r4 cards.

It would be great to see all the old GB and GBA games on a marketplace where you could just pick the ones you wanted. Its what should have happened on the PSP store....

I only own one GBA game but like others have said I will wait to see what's on the store before buying a DSi

I'm in the exact same boat.
