Call of Juarez prequel dated for July News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

30 April, 2009

Ubisoft has told Eurogamer that Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood will be released on 3rd July.

The PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game acts as a prequel to Call of Juarez, focusing on brothers Thomas and Ray McCall. Ray later becomes Reverend Ray - one of the two main characters in Call of Juarez.

Each of the brothers will have unique abilities and gun-slinging styles, and each will be useful in different situations. Plus, both can be taken online, where an inventive Bounty System - that increases your worth as you gun down foes - will be in play.

Developer Techland is at the helm once more and aims to build on the stellar 8/10 we awarded to Call of Juarez back in 2006.

A spokesperson for Ubisoft was shy about the possibility of a demo, but we expect one will show up.

Might hold out for Red Dead...but i'm pleased to see big games being released during the summer now, and none of this 'summer drought' rubbish!

You could in the first one, but only occasionally. I'd be surprised if you can't in this one in a few sections.

There was a danger for a minute that we couldn't have considered this a true videogame sequel, but they put a colon in between the original name, and the newer words on the end to distinguish it, so then all was right in the world again.

Conventions like this, alongside news like SEGA and it's Wacky World of Ironing Minigames, is one of a hundred predictable things in videogameland.

Reverend Ray was one of the best characters in a looong time...really liked the 1st one...the bit where he dusts down his old peacemakers after a church service was just great...good voice actor.

Love a good western

CoJ was one of the best western shooters I've ever played. Probably the best since Outlaw all those years ago.

I forget - Call of Juarez or Red Dead Revolver - which of those two games have gone sandbox style? I know one of them have.
