Alien Breed is trilogy, out October News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

14 July, 2009

Alien Breed Evolution will be released in three parts, beginning around October, and features approximately 15 hours of gameplay according to Team17 boss Martyn Brown.

Speaking at Develop today, Brown said the trilogy would cost around USD 2.5 million to produce and had been in development by a team of about 30 people for "around 14-15 months".

"It makes it one of the most expensive digital titles to date," Brown said of the game, which is due out for PS3 and Xbox 360 and offers a combination of single-player campaign and co-operative gameplay.

You can see how it looks in our Alien Breed Evolution screenshot gallery, and will be able to check out our hands-on impressions soon.

Three parts? Milky milky... and 2.5 million to make??? REALLY? Didn't ass creed cost a whooping million to make? So a vast 3d open world with detailed cutting edge graphics full retail game costs a million while this top down arcade shoot em up costs over double? Hmmmmm.

No pc version? will have to dust off the 360.

If this plays aswell as I remember (when me and my brother where sat round a small TV and an amiga) then it wil be a great game.

I thought they were saying $2.5 mil as in "Look how good we made this for very little money".

A team of 30 seems fairly small, and 14 months seems like a fairly short time too. Most 'good' games (XBLA etc excluded) would have larger teams and a longer build time I imagine?

Large scale computer games like Assassins Creed cost around £20 million to make and around £10 million to market. £2.5 million is pretty paltry compared to "proper" games, but considering its only going to retail over digital distribution, thats an awful lot of money.

I'd be checking everyone's expenses claims if this cost 2.5million to make, surely someone is fiddling the funds.

Ossett (where Team 17 is based) is a very expensive place to live, plus they are near a really nice butty bar!

I'm not a big fan of the growing trend in episodic games, but I still have faith this will be great.

Just watch that pricing T17 if you're spliiting the game into 3 parts.

£2.5m, 3 parts, each part costing 1200ms points? I smell a boxed version with all 3 packs included on the horizon.

2.5 million is cheap, AAA games (big hyped retail titles) usually cost ten times as much or more.

Re PC version:
From the Alien Breed debate on their facebook page --
"Alien Breed PS3, 360, PC (not small - 40-50 people for 2 years on that)."
So I take it that means it's coming to the PC as well :)
