Grand Theft Auto 5 modder Joseph Delgado is working on a way to add hand-tracking to Rockstar's open-world crime game. The early results are rather shocking in how much they change the tone of the game.
"This s*** really can make your jaw drop," said Delgado on Reddit. "You actually feel remorse, it's crazy!"
The in-development mod uses the Razer Hydra controllers in concert with an Oculus Rift DK2. Delgado explained on his blog that he didn't intend for the VR peripherals to make the violence as disturbing as it ended up being. "I'm really not sure about this. I feel horrible about making this. You actually feel guilty. My mouth dropped the first time I shot someone in my GTA: V VR setup," the modder stated.
Strange how something as minor as how you hold your gun can make such a difference, but there you have it. The GTA5 hand-tracking mod isn't readily available yet, but Delgado will continue working on it... lest he decide it's too uncomfortable to continue developing.
