Inafune's action-RPG Red Ash adds PS4 stretch goal

But still has to double its funds in nine days.

Keiji Inafune's Kickstarter campaign for the action-RPG Red Ash has added a $1m stretch goal to finance a PS4 port.

Developer Comcept polled users on which platforms they'd like to see Red Ash appear on and 66.6 per cent said PS4. Comcept showed these results to Sony and got the greenlight to develop for the platform.

"We were able to officially confirm the development of Red Ash for the PlayStation 4," Comcept stated in a Kickstarter update.

"However, we still need your support to make this a reality," the developer continued. "We have now updated the console port stretch goal to reflect this new development!"

With only nine days to go before its 3rd August deadline, Red Ash has only acquired $461,467 of its $800K goal.

It seems many are reluctant to back this Inafune project as his previous Kickstarter-funded game, Mighty No. 9, hasn't come out yet. Furthermore, some folks aren't too pleased with the direction that game is taking in its transition from 2D concept art to a more polygonal 3D aesthetic. On the plus side, Eurogamer Chrises Bratt and Donlan have played a bit of Mighty No. 9 and really liked it.

Red Ash will share a lot in common with Mighty No. 9. Both will have leads named Beck and Call, both are set in worlds where robots hunt humans, and while Mighty No. 9 is a spiritual successor to Mega Man, Red Ash appears to be the spiritual successor to Mega Man Legends.

There's also a Kickstarter campaign for a Red Ash anime short film. That's raised $90,700 of its $150K goal and it ends on 3rd August along with the Red Ash game.
