Nolan North: "I know they're doing The Last of Us 2"

UPDATE: Joel actor Troy Baker: "I know nothing."

UPDATE 30/6/15 9.55am: The Last of Us lead actor Troy Baker has said he knows nothing of a sequel to the game, despite word today from Uncharted lead Nolan North that The Last of Us 2 would be made.

"I know nothing. I don't know if we're gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann, creative director] and Bruce [Straley, game director] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told," Baker said during a panel at Indy PopCon last weekend.

Should a sequel be made, Baker said that he was interested to revisit the years following The Last of Us' prologue.

"You know, spoiler, when you go from the prologue and then credits and then cut to 20 years later, you see a completely different guy," Baker said.

ORIGINAL STORY 30/6/15 9.55am: Naughty Dog collaborator Nolan North has said that a The Last of Us sequel will be made.

North, voice of Uncharted series hero Nathan Drake and The Last of Us villain David, made the remarks during a Metrocon 2015 panel (thanks, NeoGAF).

When asked by a fan if he had any more projects lined up at Naughty Dog following Uncharted 4, North said: "Not yet, I know they're doing The Last of Us 2."

We haven't heard anything concrete on a sequel to the The Last of Us - and nothing even non-concrete for some time.

Back in February last year creative director Neil Druckmann said that he thought a sequel had a "50/50" chance of being made.

"We just wrapped up Left Behind, and Bruce Straley, the game director, and I have been doing this for over four years now. So it's just time for a break, and to recharge the batteries," Druckmann told Eurogamer at the time.

"We have started brainstorming some stuff. To be honest, some of them are sequel ideas, and some of them are brand new IP - we've spent the last few weeks brainstorming new IP."

Word of a sequel comes as little surprise considering the huge commercial success and critical acclaim earned by the original game.

Should Druckmann and Straley be involved in The Last of Us 2 - and it is highly likely they would be, considering their major roles creating the first - it would mean that the sequel is still likely some way off.

Both are currently tied up helming Uncharted 4, which will not be released until 2016.

Druckmann and Straley took on the project after the departure of former Naughty Dog alumni Amy Hennig, who left in unclear circumstances, and who then later resurfaced in charge of a mystery Star Wars game at EA.

We heard a little more about this Star Wars game yesterday - again from North. Speaking during the same event, he revealed that Hennig's project would be similar to Uncharted and the now-scrapped Star Wars 1313 and also said that eight months' worth of Uncharted 4 work was scrapped when Hennig left Naughty Dog.
