So, what's happening with Prince of Persia, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Far Cry 4?

They're all cooking, but which one's on the top shelf of the oven?

There are three games we expect Ubisoft is making but has yet to reveal: a new Prince of Persia, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Far Cry 4.

They're all cooking, Ubisoft's Europe boss Alain Corre told me at E3, but which one's on the top shelf of the oven?

It sounds like it's Far Cry 4.

"We haven't announced anything yet," Corre said on the follow-up to last year's excellent Far Cry 3. "We're thinking of the future of this brand. We don't know yet when it will emerge. Again, it's cooking. Something is cooking!"

Hopefully it won't take as long to cook as the new Prince of Persia game, we suggested.

"No no! No way. We try to put the fire a bit stronger."

Speaking of Prince of Persia, there have been a number of leaks of games in the series that have been in development but cancelled.

So, is there a new Prince of Persia game in development right now?

"All our franchises are always in gestation," Corre countered. "We are iterating. We are thinking about what can be done. But we can't bring all the games and all the franchises every year. We have a lot on the show floor this year already.

"It will happen when we feel it is ready, when the creators have brought something interesting. That's the case for all our franchises. They're cooking. Some are cooking longer than others, but they're cooking."

Ahead of Ubisoft's E3 press conference Ubisoft posted a Beyond Good & Evil image to its Facebook page that sparked speculation that the MIA sequel would be announced at the LA show.

Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot has since said the image was just of a "classic character" and "wasn't meant to be a tease".

"It was just part of our promotion in the run-up to E3," he told VentureBeat, "homaging some of the characters from our past.

"I think that was maybe misinterpreted. I think the first game was exceptional, and people remember the experience they had, so they would like to see it again.

"We had a period where we had a demo that went out before it was quite ready, so everybody saw something that appealed to them. That's why I think they keep expecting something. But I can't say much more than that."

The demo in question is a teaser trailer Ubisoft showed to press at its Ubidays event in Paris in 2008. We haven't heard of the game since - although Ubisoft has gone on the record to say it's now a next-gen title. Rayman mastermind Michel Ancel has had to put Beyond Good & Evil 2 on the back burner while he completes this year's Rayman Legends, Guillemot has revealed. Last year Ancel had to pour all his efforts into finishing Rayman Origins.

Ubidays, circa May 2008.

"There are some works on it," Corre told Eurogamer. "There are some iterations on it. Now, some games are taking longer to be done, depending also on the creativity the creator can bring. You see the level of quality of the games today is very high. It takes time to find the right angle and message.

"It's true that the trailer we showed years ago, in the desert with the pig sneezing and flies still resonates very well. These kind of brands are part of Ubisoft's DNA.

"It will happen when it will be perfect."
