PlayStation Vita games, DLC, demos hit PlayStation Store

UPDATE: Sony pushes Vita store update live.

UPDATE: Sony's PlayStation Vita store update is now officially live, a Tweet from the company's official account confirms.

ORIGINAL STORY: Sony has blasted a vast array of games, DLC content and demos on to the EU PlayStation Store for PlayStation Vita.

When Vita launches at midnight tonight its entire launch line-up of games will be available for digital download.

A range of download-only titles will also be ready, such as pool sim Hustle Kings, MotorStorm RC and 2D strategy title A-Men.

Ridge Racer, MotorStorm RC and Touch My Katamari are among the titles which will be expandable through paid DLC content. Add-ons for Hustle Kings, Top Darts or Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom DLC will come free to those who already own the equivalent DLC for PS3.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss features DLC for an in-game map that shows the locations of hidden treasures, for 79p of real-life money.

Sony is also throwing in a couple of free AR games, Cliff Diving and Table Football, alongside demos of Uncharted: Golden Abyss, ModNation Racers, and WipEout 2048.

The full list of new content lies below, courtesy of the EU PlayStation blog.

    Uncharted: Golden Abyss DLC (£0.79/€0.99)

Does anyone know what this DLC is?
  • Frybird #2 3 months ago

Motorstorm RC makes me actually jealous of PS3/Vita Owners.

XBLA could use a game along the lines of RC Pro AM and Micro Machines too.
  • spazmo #3 3 months ago

Looking at those prices i'm glad i'm sticking with a US account. I mean $39.99 for FIFA against £44.99!!??
  • GamesConnoisseur #4 3 months ago

Er I think my bank manager gonna want a word!

Re me getting Vita and quite likely bit too uncautious with first splashes of digital and retail games, but hey, we gonna party during launch of new console?!!

Some excellent titles there, poxes on the troubles in the Far East for Vita!
  • Eraysor #5 3 months ago

Motorstorm looks ace. With no recent Mashed releases I need my micro machines fix!
  • CrunchinJelly #6 3 months ago

What happened to the discount for downloading games vs retail?
  • thebaron #7 3 months ago

Are Sony taking the piss? FIFA for £45 for digital download - I can buy the real thing for £36.85
  • Whitster #8 3 months ago

Well so much for reasonablely priced downloads then. How about some reviews now EG?
  • Oli Verified Reviews Editor, Eurogamer.net #9 3 months ago

    Confirmed: MotorStorm RC is great.
  • b00thie #10 3 months ago

very disappointed with the pricing. Just to use virtua tennis 4 and fifa as examples, you can get a boxed version for at least £10 cheaper elsewhere which will have resell value later. Where is the incentive to get the digital version?
  • Oli Verified Reviews Editor, Eurogamer.net #11 3 months ago

@Whitster We're working on it, but we only have so many Vitas and as you can see, there are an awful lot of games. We'll be posting reviews for the next couple of weeks, probably, as we work our way through them all.

If you can't wait, we'll be posting a guide to all the launch games tomorrow morning with initial impressions of everything we've had a look at.
  • patch #12 3 months ago

@thebaron I'm guessing it's a similar situation as with other third party digital releases, the prices are set by the publisher. Chances of EA charging less than retail for a digital download are somewhere between none and f*ck right off you bunch of thieving *rseh*les
  • Toothball #13 3 months ago

Are these Network Passes there to discourage seconds hand sales? Wipeout is listed as including one, but other games don't mention them.
  • abigsmurf #14 3 months ago

Pretty disappointed that boxed retail copies are almost universally cheaper. Looks like my Vita will be spending most of its time switched to the US like my PSP was.
  • Mikeeeboy1 #15 3 months ago

How about giving information on the memory needed for the games and add ons.
With memory for most in short supply it would be good to know what and what we can't download due to small memory cards!!!!

So 10% discount is correct as rrp is 34.99 for Sony games bar Uncharted and they are a fiver cheaper.

Also it's obviously EA and Capcom setting prices is baffling how no one can see that when the Sony games are cheaper that rrp.
  • sfp_noodle #18 3 months ago

Good thing I'm only interested in Super Stardust, Escape Plan and Motorstorm RC then! Uncharted will be the only game I'm getting for my Vita at retail. Once I've platinumed it it'll most likely be sold on within a week or two to fund another game. It's a shame they didn't include some kind of online cross play with Uncharted 3 on the PS3, would definitely have decided to keep it otherwise.

Whilst these prices are an improvement on the retarded prices of some recent PS3 releases on the PSN, they still aren't good enough. It's telling though that Sony have tried to reduce their own game prices closer to what boxed copies cost yet EA typically price theirs higher than everyone else.

Also, Fifa costing cheaper in the states ($39.99 vs. £44.99) is no surprise. Who is even going to buy it over there? EA know that Europeans will want their footy fix and with no competition until at least September/October this year they can charge what they want and get away with it. Shitty attitude from them but it’s the truth, and sadly there are people out there that will pay the price just to save a half an hour journey into town or waiting a day or two for it to arrive in the post.
  • dadrester #19 3 months ago

Sony don't dictate the price of FIFA. EA do. Is this a misprint though?
Michael Jackson The Experience HD (£24.99/€19.99)
Surely euro and pound are back to front?

[edit] also. that has to be one of the 'fullest' launch line-ups ever?
    Edited by dadrester at 21/02/12 @ 13:10
  • Whitster #20 3 months ago

@Oli Thats cool, I was wondering if you guys had some kind of different embargo to IGN who have all the reviews up.
  • rojjer #21 3 months ago

    £29.99 for Rayman vs £34.99 in most shops - that's a first! :)
  • LLJaf #22 3 months ago

Disgusted by EA and Capcom, dissapointed by Sega and codies r taking the piss.
  • peeps #23 3 months ago

@abigsmurf actually it seems most downloadable prices are the same, if not cheaper than the RRP of physical copies, it's just most retailers are having a price war with both the consoles and game prices
  • Darren #24 3 months ago

I got my PSV about 30 minutes ago and I'm interested in buying Super Stardust Delta, Motorstorm RC and Escape Plan (the latter seems expensive at £10 though).

It's disappointing to see downloadable versions of the games selling at the RRPs as I read that they'd be 20% cheaper. Clearly not. As such there's absolutely no reason to buy them digitally, particularly when you factor in the expensive memory cards (granted you can store games on the PC for more virtual storage). I'll likely just download them to try demos and then buy the physical game for less from ShopTo.
  • Drygore #25 3 months ago

Omg omg omg. Awesome! Today is a GOOD day to be a GAMER! I don't want to see any negative comments, or fuck, ill explode! So stay positive, for once.
  • PcPlasticfuzz #26 3 months ago

@Drygore Best post I've seen on eurogamer in ages!
  • wizlon #27 3 months ago

Android owners might find this app useful for the AR games:

  • Street89 #28 3 months ago

I thought Sony said they'd be cheaper than the physical copies? I don't understand, surely it would make the purchase of their memory cards more appealing if games were cheaper because you'd be happier paying more for the memory.
  • Vanmunt #29 3 months ago

Are these avaialable now, as I got mine yesterday and all the online gubbins was still down.. can anybody confirm if it is up and running now?
  • Drygore #30 3 months ago

    @PcPlasticfuzz

Haha thanks. Sadly i just read all the comments, and ofc people just have to whine about everything. Thank god im too happy to explode, at the moment at least ;-]

Been putting away money for a year (the mother of my daughter shakes her head, my 4 year old daughter though, goes with flow and yells "yoohoo!" with me) for these two days. Im gonna spend alot ;-]
  • erp #31 3 months ago

Retail games it is, then. The download prices are a joke. Thanks a bunch Sony.

Digital Distribution continues to be the biggest lie ever sold to gamers (at least outside of PC-land). Anyone else remember the promise of cheaper games due to the almost non-existant overheads?

What a load of rubbish that's turned out to be.
  • jonbwfc #32 3 months ago

@Street89 Sony said they'd be cheaper than the RRP for physical copies.
  • Darren #33 3 months ago

@Street89 - Well you'd think that would be the case, wouldn't you, but clearly Sony never bothered to tell the publishers that hence the prices.

The memory cards are a rip-off anyway considering SD cards of the same capacity are a third/quarter of the price. I'll be using my PC as virtual storage for my PSV games (I've just downloaded the Content Manager Assistant for Windows onto a USB memory stick while I'm at work) so hopefully I'll never need another memory card or anything larger than the 16 GB one I have.
  • NotSoSlim #34 3 months ago

Guessing online pass is included in these games?

Unlock online pass is for second hand copies?
  • Bushybob #35 3 months ago

@Frybird It has one via Indie store called Little Racers Street. 80msp with full online multiplayer for 12 people. cracking title.
  • landlock #36 3 months ago

I have mine already it turned up at 9.30 this morning thanks to Parcel Force/shopto.

LOL, Army Corps of Hell £34 the RRP is only £24.99 likewise the RRP for Shinobido 2 is £29.99 WTF?
  • Paulie_P #37 3 months ago

@GamesConnoisseur I'm going to be the same. Maybe we could set up a buddy system a-la Alcoholics Anonymous!
  • alexbulluk #38 3 months ago

Uncharted demo! Hurrah. Can't get it on launch day, do that's good news.

You can get some of these with £5 off if you preorder, too. So I suppose that could lead to a good deal.
  • A_Nonny #39 3 months ago

    No Gravity Rush demo?
  • skowhegan Verified Staff Writer, Eurogamer Network #40 3 months ago

@DSR3 We were wondering this too. It's an in-game map, details now above.
  • hilts #41 3 months ago

Hmm, I said the lack of a price announcement was worrying the other day and got negged for it!
Glad to see some demos , don't like the idea of so much dlc for some games
  • roz123 #42 3 months ago

    @skowhegan
An in game map for Uncharted? Is that just a straight line?
  • Osahi #43 3 months ago

Getting Escape Plan and MotorStorm tomorow. Boxed titles I'll pick up in the store. Lumines for starters...

Do you get trophies on vita? And if so are they added to your total, eg you can see them on your ps3 profile?
  • chaywa #45 3 months ago

    Dear Steam,

Surely you've accrued enough money from TF2 hats to buy PSN/SEN and improve the service a billion-fold. So please, for the sake of gamers everywhere, buy it!
  • alexbulluk #46 3 months ago

@Pocketgrandpa Yes, Vita has trophies and they sync to your PSN account (or should that be SEN account?)
  • Toothball #47 3 months ago

    @alexbulluk

It is SEN now, they even say that if you speak to their support team.
  • StuDevo #48 3 months ago

Glad Gravity Rush isn't out at launch otherwise my bank balance would be quite low.
  • darkos87 #49 3 months ago

@thebaron It's up to the publisher to set their price... They just want to cash in the launch window I'm afraid.
  • frunk #50 3 months ago

When is the Store going to actually go live in the UK?

Money burining a hole in my credit card?!
  • darkos87 #51 3 months ago

@rojjer I bought the PS3 version for 15 pounds. Score!
  • darkos87 #52 3 months ago

@erp Just wait for a few months and we'll get the sales.. that's what I do anyway :)
  • Rens11 #53 3 months ago

So if I download these to ps3 I can move them to vita tomorrow?
  • alexbulluk #54 3 months ago

@frunk the blog says "by midnight" so it could be any time at all.
  • BeardofZeus #55 3 months ago

Is there any reason to use the UK store over the US one?
  • frunk #56 3 months ago

Just PS button to stop, then tear off the paper to close it properly - then re-open

    Games - no content
Videos - seems fine - grabbed a couple of trailers
Codes (for AR) - don't redeem, yet
My old d/l list - PSP games downloadable, SOME minis are downloadable too

    So getting there :)

Sony are aware that there are 1.2 Euros to £1 aren't they? The exchange rate on some of those is shocking.

£44.99 for fifa? What the fuck are Sony and Ea smoking and where can I get some?
  • Syrette #63 3 months ago

    @Frybird

    The 360 does have one.

It's called Little Racers: STREET and is an indie game. It's 80MSP and has as much content, if not more, as the nearest XBLA equivalent.

  • -Mew- #66 3 months ago

    This is total crap...

The game prices are retarded... I swear to god they said. We'll make games on PSN cheap so you don't buy them at retail but we'll make memory expensive as fuck.

Now what I see is that zavvii has most games 5 pounds cheaper then fucking PSN....

    JUST FREAKING AWESOME.
  • -Mew- #67 3 months ago

@jonbwfc And they sure didn't keep their word.
  • darkmorgado #68 3 months ago

    @Toothball

Yes. You cant go online with wipeout without a one use code, and its effectively half the game - theres an entire online campaign
  • jonsaan #69 3 months ago

So. Clarity please. Let say I buy EGolf from PSN. Do I have to buy the network pass as well? Will that work on up to 5 devices too?
  • andrewsqual #70 3 months ago

@b00thie Then have a word with Sega and EA. I'm shocked at these great prices. €34.99 for Rayman after it was €69.99 when it went digital on PS3? And its "Euro"gamer not UKgamer. If you don't like the price why not buy Ubisoft's Rayman in your precious Game......oh wait never mind.
  • captain_Carl #71 3 months ago

@jonsaan You always get network pass with new games. Retail or download. You can download it on TWO Vitas.
  • peeps #72 3 months ago

@-Mew- It is cheaper than RRP...

    http://www.blockbuster.co.uk/product/buy-online/ps3/game/276129/wipeout-2048-psvita.htm

Wipeout 2048's RRP is £34.99 but most shops are selling it at £29.99 or similar including the PSN store (£5 cheaper than RRP)

So I fail to see how Sony aren't selling digital games at less than the RRP when clearly they are... the price a retailer chooses to sell a game at does not = RRP lol so just because retailers are selling physical copies at £30 doesn't mean Sony need to drop the digital price further to keep their 'promise'
  • penhalion #73 3 months ago

SS Delta looks like it's worth the cash but, where's gravity rush?
  • Jmog #74 3 months ago

    @penhalion

Gravity Rush isn't out til may in the west. Currently only the Japanese version is available.
  • DisneyJon #75 3 months ago

    @peeps

Thats rubbish and you know it. Retailers with massive overheads sell well below rrp but Psn manages 0 to 10 %.
  • Toothball #76 3 months ago

    @darkmorgado

Don't you get a pass if you buy a new copy though? I can understand the online pass system as a method to get some money from second hand copies, but needing them with new ones seems a bit of a stretch. I guess I'll find out later.
  • peeps #77 3 months ago

@DisneyJon Digital distribution can only really compete against RRP of games though as the price different retailers sell a game at will vary. As an example, right now you can buy the PC version of MW3 for £34.91 at HMV but it's £39.99 if you buy it from Steam... does that mean Steam is ripping people off and should lower it's price as soon as any retailer does?
