While it will be a while till I pick up this game (Haven't played the first one yet) I am glad to see Square Enix supporting the game with DLC and new costumes.

Looks like Rikku's physics defying Al Bhed thong from FFX-2 is back in fashion in FF land.

Am very open to the idea of FFXIII-2 DLC, I think it's a brilliant game. Quite uninspired by playing as a different character and not keeping my crew from the main game though.

Despite initially looking like a bit of... frankly... a crude ethnic stereotype, Sazh turned out to be the best developed and best rounded character in FF13. I didn't like FF13, but that was a function of the gameplay and linearity, rather than the plot or characters.

I've quite enjoyed 13-2 so far (about 12 hours in). While the battle system hasn't changed much, the gameplay in general is much better this time around. On that basis, I'll be happy to give the DLC a whirl.

I was cynical when I started reading this article. Cash-in DLC, milking the fans, etc., etc. Then I saw that Serah costume and I'm sorry but:

    Sazh was a great character.

@mrlaurentisdead I can't be alone in thinking this should have been in the main game. For me, FF has always been about a large cast of characters, and a lot of the fun has been meeting new ones, which is one of the main reasons that I haven't actually got XII-2 yet.

More and more, it is looking like waiting for the game of the year edition is the best idea

Looks like I have to come to terms with Final Fantasy being no more dignified than your average fighting game. Dress your female protagonist in a skimpy outfit (complete with thong!) for a buck!

In many ways, these are pitiful days for games; days made sadder when I see a series like Final Fantasy, a series with which I grew up, churning out greater amounts of cheap and seedy trash like this.

@Feanor what kept me playing was sazh and the battle theme sadly.
@Rogueywon I totally was expecting a guy full of stereotype and he did have them (chocobo aka chicken in the hair), but overall he was still my favorite character.

@Munkeh111 Well, you could argue that it would be great if any DLC was included in the original game (apart from maybe that Metro 2033 one that totally broke it). The large character set never felt definitively part of the FF experience to me though.

Actually having two main characters only is a real boon to me in this game - a pet peeve of mine in JRPGs is having my party mixed up without my permission by plot-driven events. I want to control who I have at all times, and in FFXIII-2, that is exactly what I get.

    Less fabric means higher costs?

Loving the game so far (12 hours in), much improved over 13, however this is DLC done wrong IMO. I remember the days when costumes were unlocked through skill or dedicated exploration, but that's a minor gripe.

The real kicker for me (as it was in Dragon Age Origins) is cruising through the game, becoming happily immersed in the story, lore and environments of the world only to approach and speak to an NPC who gives me two choices "Slot Machines or Card Games".

I choose Card Games, however instead of playing card games (as I foolishly assumed with actually happen) the game jumps in with "Card Games will be available as Downloadable Content in the future". I spent the next 20 minutes so pissed off that the developers had built a single player, story driven RPG and purposely removed content pre release in order to sell it later as an add on. FUCK! It's like paying 50 bucks for the trial version, a very generous trial to be sure, but it's still less than the full experience.

Here's how I'd like to see DLC work: 3-6 months after release a BIG (think expansion packs of old) chunk of EXTRA (not part of the main game), NEW (developed post release) DLC should be released.

Borderlands is a great example, full retail game with nothing missing, then 4 fantastic, fully featured expansions were released over the next year and a bit (I think). I have no problem with DLC in principal, it's all in the implementation. It's great that modern consoles allow us to prolong the games we love, but please devs stop doing it at the expense of the core game!

Anyway like I said, really enjoying the game, I just hope there aren't too many more reminders that I don't have the full version before the end of the game.

Sigh I just remember when you'd pull out a cartridge, bung it in the slot and play happy in the knowledge that you were playing the same game as all the other kids and if someone had a rad secret costume it was cause they earned it, or at least used the cheat code ;)

Sorry for going on like a big baby, just felt like a winge.
