Buy Dragon's Dogma, play Resident Evil 6 demo first

Demo timed Xbox 360 exclusive.

Buy Capcom open world fantasy game Dragon's Dogma and you'll be the first to play the Resident Evil 6 demo.

Retail versions of Dragon's Dogma contain a redeemable token that lets you download the Resident Evil 6 demo.

On Xbox 360, the demo will be available to download globally on 3rd July - 60 days earlier than any other platform.

It launches on PlayStation 3 on 4th September in the US and Japan and 5th September in Europe.

Meanwhile, Capcom has announced that Dragon's Dogma launches on PS3 and Xbox 360 on 25th May in Europe.

Those who pre-order the game get the Pawn Upgrade Pack (additional Rift Crystals allowing players to rent higher level experience Pawns from the outset), the Armour Upgrade Pack (high level armour) or the Weapon Upgrade Pack (high level weapons), depending on the shop you favour.

Capcom today promised post launch support with a "comprehensive suite" of DLC, including additional quests as well as weapon and armour upgrades.

Resident Evil 6 launches on 20th November.

Anyone else never bother playing demos if you know you're definitely getting the game anyway? Mass Effect 3...Resi 6 etc. I'd rather get stuck into the full pie than just a slice!

    "Demo timed Xbox 360 exclusive."

Brilliant; it's like they're not actually interested I'm selling games on other platforms, so they've no qualms about withholding content.

I've only got a PS3, but this sort of disparity makes me feel less inclined to buy Dragon's Dogma.

After Dark Souls and that this isn't Monster Hunter on 360/ps3. Dragon Dogma just doesn't grab my interest. I'm guessing I pick this up a week after release for considerably cheaper.

2 months exclusivity on a fucking demo. Fuck you.

wow timed exclusives on demos MS need to make some games FFS.
  • elaniel #7 4 months ago

I always feel that adding in a demo to a big title to another game shows little confidence in the game it's attached to.

Any kind of content exclusivity is retarded, but a game demo? That's beyond stupid. Worst part is that I can see people paying upto £15 on eBay for demo tokens in the same way they did with the Resi 5 demo a few years ago.
  • doragonpawwa #9 4 months ago

Demos are demos don't care when they're released before the launch of a certain game but you wonder if after 60 days would the demo be updated to be close to the games final code thing? Well Timed.. exclusively is okish even if i don't bother with MS gaming systems, don't think its so bad really.

Dragons Dogma is interesting but I wouldn't let a demo exclusivity deal get in the way. Besides it'll eventually it'll be available in September anyway for all platforms.

Sad... though its yet again sad for PS3 regarding Capcom.

Did I imagine that I saw a Resident Evil 6 advert during the first episode of Spartacus: Vengeance on Sky 1 HD last night? It stated the release date as 20th November 2012, granted it appeared very briefly before the next advert came on? Or was it for that 3DS Resi Evil game as Capcom are advertising very early otherwise?

    /is confused

At least when consoles had proper third party exclusives you could see it as a legit reason to buy the hardware. Timed exclusives on demos? That's not going to sway anyone into buying an Xbox, it's just going to piss people off.
  • 8bitMofo #12 4 months ago

It's a good job then that Demos are rippable, uploadable and playable on all Xboxes :)
  • Machetazo #13 4 months ago

I saw a teaser trailer on TV, for a Youtube trailer of this, last night. :champ:

I feel like it's some Twilight Zone moment.

Exclusive/ pre-order demos just don't make sense to me.
  • Cjail #15 4 months ago

I didn't think it was possible but Capcom just managed to make herself even more miserable.

Did you read the article? Only TWENTY FOUR hours later in Europe for RE6

2 months refer to demo being exclusive on X360 ONLY if you buy the Dragon's Dogma game.

No thanks! I ain't interested in getting Dragon's Dogma but wouldn't mind RE6, shame I m unsure and need to be convinced, how? Ah releasing Demo to the public would be a good PR for RE6.

Closed the demo for 2 months not going to help sell you RE6 and I doubt people would in good numbers buy Dragon's Dogma purely cos of RE6 Demo... Only on X360 and not other versions!!

    What a silly mess.

I agree that exclusive demos are a really, really stupid idea for multiformat games. No-one in their right mind is going to dash out to buy a rival console just to play a demo two months early. All this does is annoy people on the rival system. It's really not fair (though us PC gamers have kind of gotten used to this).

But you know if Microsoft have more money than sense then it's up to them I guess. Maybe Microsoft is trying to make up for the depressing lack of actual exclusive games on the Xbox 360 by signing up exclusive demos too? :p

    Dragon's Dogma looks really good.

50x more excited for that than Kingdoms of EA: Raping.
  • Daeltaja #19 4 months ago

Really looking forward to Dragons Dogma.

    @4cough Resident Evil 5 on PS3 sold 5 million, Resident Evil 5 on 360 sold 3 million

@4cough i've played both the Xbox and ps3 Version of Resident Evil 5 Both looked the same to me

TOKEN SHOEHORNED COMMENT ABOUT DARK SOULS NOT BEING THAT HARD
  • WillyWongler #23 4 months ago

@Darren I think it's probably more about getting the sale from a multi-platform owner.

If both games turn out very close, the customer will probably choose the one with a little bit of extras thrown in.
  • Architect_z #24 4 months ago

Who is the evil resident? Can't they just blow up his house?
  • miiiguel #25 4 months ago

It probably just means 360 is the lead platform.

Anyway, like Coriana, I don't do demos, I wish I could give my demo to a butthurted PS3er.
Sorry, joke, and stuff... but, come on, too much whining...

They should not mess around with people like that. I really want to play the demo, but I ain't buying Dragon's Dogma. Pisses me off.
Why don't they make the RE6 fucking exclusive, for exclusive people with exclusive houses and exclusive cars.
    They can shove it.
  • drumbaby #27 4 months ago

Fuck you Capcom. How about I just boycott your games exclusively on my PS3?
  • Phantom_Dynamite #28 4 months ago

It's just a demo, Capcom gave sony users 5 extra characters on SF X Tekken, these things happen.

XBOX 360 - It Only Does Timed Exclusives

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Anyways, Capcom will "support" the game with DLCs. Now what does that mean?
It means I won't buy the damn thing, I'll wait for the "complete" edition, thank you.

nice, was going to buy Dragons Dogma day 1 anyway,

Will give a taste of Resi 6, - i hope you can choose single player or co-op this time, without some stupid AI buddy that wastes your ammo and health at every possible moment in the game.

totally killed resi 5 for me
  • Machetazo #31 4 months ago

@Phantom_Dynamite Sony had at least five characters they could use.

When Capcom came knocking, Microsoft Creative starting counting, but with fingers left, shrugged, and returned to shooting scrunched paper basketballs in to wastebins!

Wow, it's just a demo, not sure what all this fuss is about. And I'll buy Resi 6 regardless, so why spoil the experience by playing the demo? That would break the fluidity of the experience.

Did Microsoft actually pay for timed exclusivity.. on a demo? Surely not. Must be something more to it.
