New Alan Wake is called Alan Wake's American Nightmare
UPDATE: Out on XBLA Q1 2012.
UPDATE: Alan Wake's American Nightmare launches on Xbox Live Arcade in Q1 2012, developer Remedy Entertainment has confirmed.
ORIGINAL STORY: The new Alan Wake game is called Alan Wake's American Nightmare.
A trailer shown during the Spike Video Game Awards confirmed the title, which was leaked last week via the German ratings board.
The enemy is Mr. Scratch, from the end of Alan Wake.
Alan Wake is an Xbox Live Arcade game with a "pretty damn impressive storyline that expands the original in some interesting ways," developer Remedy previously insisted.

I wanted to know what direction the game was taking now it had become an XBLA title. I don't think EG had to mention the conclusion of the last games events to explain that.
@skowhegen
If that's the case then very well, I stand corrected.

Remedy got a severe financial hit from producing Alan Wake and Microsoft probably bailed them out like they did Bungie back in the say. This goes against popular opinion, but I bet both wouldn't exist today if not thanks to Microsoft. That's not an argument meant to praise or dismiss (as arguments about the big three so often go) just to put some grey in there.
Remedy HAVE to make some money so they have to re-use things. That doesn't mean it cannot be fun. It's too easy and too lazy an argument if you haven't seen it in context, though completely understandable if you didn't like the first one to begin with.
Looking at the trailer what I miss most are forests. I played through Alan Wake twice because of the brilliant first two chapters and their forest setting. The two DLC's added the kind of Max Payne physics and mind-trip situations that where lacking before and in my opinion worked really well. I love their attempt at symbolic storytelling even if it didn't always come across well. And the dual combat system of guns and flashlights as simple as it was, felt like a great routine. The kind of stylish grind that made it fun to redo Max Payne encounters again and again just to make them great. The game was however to easy which took away tension.
Nevertheless, Remedy gets my support to rebuild itself, for that they need "donations" and I will be happy to oblige.
Anything that helps them build a fully fledged new game or sequel.

Looks quite good so far.
EDIT: Fixed weird error caused by the EG link button messing up the url.
