New Gears of War 3 DLC: be General Raam

Three hours of Pre-Gears 1 campaign.

Gears of War 3 will expand again on 13th December with Raam's Shadow, Epic has announced.

In it, you play as General Raam, the final boss of Gears of War 1. And you must storm the human stronghold of Ilima City in a campaign set pre-Gears of War 1 and lasting around three hours.

You'll also play as new COG team Zeta Squad, lead by Michael Barrick and filled out by Lt. Minh Young Kim, Tai Kaliso and new girl Alicia Valera.

On top of that, there are six new multiplayer characters, the Chocolate Weapon Set and an extra 250 gamerpoints.

Alone, the content costs 1200 Microsoft Points.

Raam's Shadow is free to owners of the 2400 MSP Gears of War 3 Season Pass.

    As brutal and cool as this DLC sounds... I can't shake the feeling that this should have been an unlockable for finishing GoW3.

    This sounds like some decent extra content, rather than just new maps.

    Being Raam will be great fun. Even if I hate him for the solo Insane trauma he inflicted on me. It'll also be nice (possibly also annoying)to see the kryll again, I kind of missed them since they were killed in the first one.

    Getting Minh back will also be nice. I wonder if they will allude to some extra antagonism Raam and he develop prior to Gears 1?

    Can we have more multi-player maps please? Before everyone except the really-hardcore moves on to something else?

    I love the multiplayer on GOW3, but there is going to be no one left but me and the super skilled gears hardcore soon. And that's no fun for me...!

    Wouldn't mind this, though with it being 1200 people are probably quite likely to go for the season pass aren't they? Either that or they'll start to leave gears as the dlc split's the community. ;-(

    Sounds good, especially as it's for the single player, but it is definitely overpriced for a mere three hours of gameplay. Should be 800 MP at the most IMO.

    @Vortex - I don't think there was anything personal between Kim and Raam was there? The Locust strategy was to specifically go after squad leaders (as pointed out by Myrrah in that scene - "cut off the snake's head and the body dies";). I think it just looked a little personal thanks to Raam's penchant for brutality.

    It'll be good to see Tai again. Poor Tai :(

    Doesn't matter what there are still idiots moaning that it's overpriced or should have been included on the disc *yawn* Change the record ffs! The retail disc for Gears 3 isn't exactly short of content already and the season pass has made buying the DLC good value but still the same boring twats on complaining.........

    Awesome! I just hope all the hummans you kill aren't Carmine clones. The COG gears armour in Gears 3 resembles Carmine's armour just a bit too closely in my opinion, so some variety would be nice. Also, Raam is still the baddest boss in the Gears trilogy. All the others pale in comparison.

    Agree with weejock...stop whining everytime they release DLC it's "should be on the disc".
    Get a different hobby.
    If you ain't got the money then get it discounted in a couple of years time.. (eg. look at Gears 2 content now.)
    Other than that SHUT THE FUCK UP filling up comment pages with this shit.
    It's not like it's going to make a difference DLC is the future of the games industry, as I presume all you whining fucks are the same assholes that pump money into game retailers who are selling it pre-owned for a few quid cheaper.
    This isn't elitism - this is a way of the world.
    Shit costs money, popular shit costs more money.

    I loved General Raam and the Krill. Mind u I quite like the Lambent Berserkers. They kick ass too.

    Yay! Big Gears fan and bought the season pass as wanted the multiplayer maps (I will be playing them for the next two years probably) but I really wasn't expecting this. Seems pretty cool to get this and maps and weapon skins etc. all for 2400 MSP. Obviously, only probably worth it for big Gears fans but if you are then this seems a little unusual and should be fun.

    Poor General Raam. He was called a lot of choice names but it will be good to be him. It would be good if I could kill Raam so he never lived long enough to reach the end of the campaign and I never had to fight him in the first place...

    A 3-hour chunk of game set completely outside of the storyline of Gears 3, featuring characters that make no appearance in that game. Yes, they blatantly ripped that straight out of the middle of the Gears 3 campaign.

    I'm sure they're hiked the price upto 1200 to make the season pass look like a decent buy as people will say hmm, only 1200 more and i have all future DLC also..., as looks like the other DLC's for Gears will probbaly be 1200 also i reckon.

    i'm still unsure of whether i'll be playing gears mp much...

    Thank god I didn't bother with the season pass bullshit; the first two sets of DLC are of absolutely no interest to whatsoever.

    Sounds very interesting. I'd buy it if it was a stand-alone mini game, like Dead Rising 2: Code Zero was.
