UK Top 40: Forza 4 fights off FIFA 12

PES lands fifth, Spider-man 39th.

Xbox 360 exclusive Forza Motorsport 4 has entered the charts top, kicking football phenomenon FIFA 12 down to second place.

FIFA 12's sales fell by 62 per cent in its third week, while Forza 4 was the biggest Xbox 360 racing launch ever.

The last seven days saw seven other new launches impact the chart. Just Dance 3 opened in third - two places above FIFA rival PES 2012, which could only manage a fifth place debut.

Rage dropped to fourth, while Gears of War 3 shuffled down into sixth. Dark Souls, Zumba, F1 2011 and Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge made up the rest of the top ten.

Outside the top flight, Namco aerial action title Ace Combat: Assault Horizon landed into 12th.

Frank West-starring Dead Rising 2 spin-off Off The Record performed worse for Capcom, snapping into 14th place.

Further down the chart, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure squeaked into 16th place while, caught in his own safety net, Spider-Man: Edge of Time bounced into 39th.

The full chart lies below.

What's with the verbs describing the games chart position, "Squeaked"? lol.
  • MiniAmin #2 7 months ago

Well done Turn 10, that's impressive - wasn't expecting Forza to displace FIFA so soon. These charts will be manic over the next few weeks, I reckon Arkham City knock Forza off its current position soon enough.
  • homerramone #3 7 months ago

Thats going to be because they put a Mitsubishi Starion into Forza this time round :-)

What with Skyrim and Uncharted 3 fighting it out as well it's going to be a crazy month or two for gaming, hurrah!

I expect Batman will drop kick it off the top spot next week!
  • Das_Ginge #6 7 months ago

@miniAmin yep I think it will be Arkham City for the top spot next week.

PES made fifth, against a rampaging FIFA. Of all the occasions to hand out uncontested time, though. whoever thought that was a good idea. @.@

  • Xardan #11 7 months ago

So much competition its ridiculous, and Arkham City soon then Skyrim in less than a month then AC: Revelations.

I hope all these game companies arent suprised when they find their game hasnt sold as well as they wanted.

Deus Ex really sells well, i mean its still 1 spot in front of a new entry :Ace Combat Assault Horizon. Thats fantastic. I think it sold much better then they expected, which is good news for the next Deus Ex game.

Forza 4 is the biggest racing launch on Xbox? It didn't sell that many units, was expecting much more from it :(

Forza 4 deserves the top spot as it is a magnificent and addictive game. I spent most of the weekend playing it to reach Level 20. The game just keeps on giving and is very, very rewarding to play. Nice one, Turn 10! :)
  • Stomp224 #16 7 months ago

yay for Dark Souls still being in the top ten! if ever a game deserved it, its DS. Its kicking my arse and I love every minute of it!
  • Darren #17 7 months ago

Good showing for Rugby Challenge too. Bought the PC version over the weekend and enjoyed playing it even if it is a bit rough around the edges (clipping is rampant, lighting occasionally glitchy and the commentary is woeful) and comes with a few unwelcome bugs (one involving a ruck where the opponent won the ball but refused to go for it necessitated a restart). Plays very well though otherwise plus comes with some excellent tutorials making it easy to learn the ropes even if you've never watched rugby union before.

When I went into Gamestation last Friday to pick up PES it was tucked away at no 7 on their chart section. Wasn't any of copies in the new release section, no posters on the wall, nothing. I doubt anyone who didn't know it was out would have noticed it. Gone are the days of players like Henry appearing in TV adverts for the series as well, was there any TV advertising this year? Konami should skip next year and release the next one in the first quarter of 2012.

The day when Fifa owned the charts seems to be ending, I think its awesome news. The fact that Forza is 360 exclusive, and knocking out a multiplatform game off the top is impresive, but that game being fifa is just icing on the cake.
Batman will knock off forza, and a couple of weeks later MW3 will take over and stay there way after new year.
just wanted to state that im not saying this cus its a 360 game, I wouldve said the same thing if it was a PS3 only game. m glad that there are gamers out there know what they're buying and that EA cant define the charts anymore.

    /puts crystal ball away.
/switches on xbox and loads up gears3

I don't know about anyone else, but Forza has already stolen all of my free time. Once I start racing, I can't stop!

    Great game.

PES cant compete with FIFA anymore, its inferior in everyway, maybe they should skip a year and then release 6 months before FIFA, that way they can iron out all the game breaking niggles and maybe present us with a semi respectable online experience, as it stands its not fit to lace FIFAs boots, im not a FIFA fanboy in anyway, i will just buy the best game out the two each year, and being a former PES fanatic i would love Konami to come back with a decent offering in the not to distant future. 5th place just shows they have lost the vast majority over to FIFA and although its a shame im glad in a way because it may just give them the shot in the arm they need.... PES has not been good enough this generation!!
  • Feanor #24 7 months ago

    Very poor debut for PES.
  • Sid-Nice #25 7 months ago

Just Dance 3 would have been No1 if the Xbox 360 fatties had of bought it.
