Final Fantasy XIII-2 "early 2012" for EU

Type-0 still without a western release date.

Square Enix has pegged Final Fantasy XIII-2 for release in Europe in "early 2012".

In its latest financial results, the Japanese company offered a more specific launch timeframe for the US: January 2012, suggesting we'll get FFXIII-2 after North American gamers.

In Japan the game goes on sale in December 2011.

Wii compilation Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary Collection and PlayStation Portable spin-off Final Fantasy Type-0 have release dates – but only for Japan. Will both games make it to these shores? If they do, it appears they will do so after 31st March 2012.

Current speculation points to Type-0 being re-jigged for launch on PlayStation Vita or as a PlayStation 3 Remaster for release in the West.

Noticeably absent from the release schedule is the long-awaited PlayStation 3 exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which suggests it won't launch in Japan until after 31st March 2012.

Last month Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura said development on the PS3 game, which was announced five years ago, was still limited to a "core" section of workers, though that group was now prepping the project for full production.

    I'm largely excited about this, just on the hope that it'll be so good it'll justify the tedious 60-hour slog through the first one.

    At the mo, I'm hoping Type-O is being redone for Vita/PS3 now my PSP has stopped reading UMDs :(

    In before the 'fans' who will inevitably queue up to tell us which of Final Fantasy games they hate the most.

    Can't wait for this; more FF is always good! Truth be told, there has never been a bad Final Fantasy game, they simply fit your personal tastes to greater or lesser degrees.

    @Bigglesworth - I agree. I personally didn't much like XII, but I know people who did. I really liked XIII, and I know people who didn't.

    As I said, I really liked XIII, and I'm very pleased they're making a sequel.

    FFXIII was so terrible they're making a sequel. Same with X, right? And XII? And VII? and IV?

    Not to mention additions the the lore of other installations across different medias, right?

    All because the game sucked hardcore and literally NOBODY should like it because it's so bad and anyone who does like it is obviously in need of help, right?

    After the disappointing XIII I am hoping they acutally listened to the fan and XIII-2 won't be as linear XIII was :/

    Final Fantasy Type-0, hoping it at least get a download from psn next year.
    Could be last big psp game in west and that would be good thing.
    Hope it makes it over, also would not mind see the dragon quest eairly games come over in some form , maybe a 3ds or wii virtual console if not that collection.

    Someone said it but a type-0 ps3 remaster version i would like get that if it a chance.

    Yeah i fully agree , i think what has happened is alot people got older and want more mature darker themed stories and they see light hearted moments in final fantasy (aka laughing scene they cringe up) but i kinda have fond spot for stuff like that.

    And if you don't know FFVII have sequel (Dirge of Cerberus) and prequel ( Crisis Core)
