UK Origin now grants Battlefield 3 beta

Pre-order to take part.

EA's UK Origin store now also grants early access to the Battlefield 3 beta when you pre-order the game, Eurogamer has discovered.

Specifically, you get 48 hours early access to the test. And that test will happen in September.

The pre-order incentive was spotted on the US Origin store earlier today.

It's not clear whether existing pre-orders will be retroactively granted early access to the Battlefield 3 beta. Eurogamer is investigating this now.

Battlefield 3 multiplayer.

At £39.99 they can suck my balls. I played the Alpha, and it was good, but paying minimum £10 extra on a preorder for 2 days early Beta access ? Nice try.

I will only be buying this game if it comes to Steam, I like my games in one place, that's where all my online buddies are, plus all the handy features and community. If you're asking me to install Origin then you alienate me from my friends because not all of them will want BF3. And even if they do want BF3 I will not be using origin, as far as I'm concerned steam's THE digital service. Any other service just means installing yet more software, just like Impulse I never bought a thing from there.

nice try, but i'm not yet crazy

    Close but not close enough.

I wonder if EA actually read comment sections like this and are aware that most people have a problem with what they're doing

What ever happened to the beta access with medal of honor?
  • xavier_dragoon #7 10 months ago

Despite the comments here, I have a feeling EA are going make a mint.

its beyond me how all the crying steam fan boys missed the fact that you can add a non steam game to steam and interact with your friends or whatever you like to do with steam while playing bf3. other than that origin is not required to be running to play BF3...and BF3 has an in-game community thingie that works without having origin.

@ bratmandu: you get 48 more hours via earlier access than other people with access

    I'll probably cave in too.

They're still honouring the Medal of Honour thing too. Pretty sure I read that the other day.

I'm putting off installing Origin for as long as possible, basically when Mass Effect 3 comes out , cause i don't fancy starting another Shep on the PS3

Beta test from the Medal of Honour game will be released 48hrs after origin buyers are allowed access - considering you can get the game pre-order with extras for around £10 less - is it worth buying online ?
  • borkedconsole #14 10 months ago

Yes, more origin, less steam please.
  • bratmandu #15 10 months ago

nvm i think it's pc only

I've got a BF3 alpha tester key but cannot use it until I get back from holiday in the middle of August, unfortunately it also requires Origin.

How much extra do they want? Holy moly! If the alpha is OK, I might bight this ... At retail for as cheap as possible.

StooMonster - the Alpha test is finished - your key is worthless now - next round is the beta test.

  • callum9999 #18 10 months ago

ISmoke - What makes you think EA cares about a bunch of people on here moaning about something they were never going to buy anyway? These boards are not even remotely close to the "average" gamer, and all EA cares about - like any good business - is maximising it's profits. If Origin is profitable for them, they will continue, regardless of anonymous criticism on random websites.

    @bratmandu

It means you get it 48 hours before it goes public. So you get 2 days extra of the BETA.
