"Onechanbara 2" spotted on Play.com

Plus, Saint Seiya looks on for the West.

Online shop Play.com has updated with a raft of games from Japanese company Namco Bandai, including some unannounced titles.

According to Play.com, Onechanbara 2 is out on 3rd February 2012 for £25. Is this a remake of Onechanbara 2? The cheaper price point suggests it could be. But if true, what happened to a remake of Onechanbara 1?

The last Onechanbara game released - the fourth Onechanbara game - was Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers on Wii. It was a wacky as it sounds.

Elsewhere, PlayStation 3 exclusive Saint Seiya is listed for launch on 1st November for £40.

The game, which is based on the Saint Seiya manga and anime, was announced last week for release in Japan.

Meanwhile, DS game Rune Factory 3 is down for launch on 30th September, PlayStation Portable game Half-Minute Hero 2 is down for 21st October, Nintendo 3DS title One Piece: Unlimited Cruise is listed for 1st November, and Super Robot Wars for 3DS is out 2nd March 2012.

As Eurogamer tipster "landlock" points out, some of these games may be published by Rising Star, which specialises in launching quirky Japanese titles in Europe.

I take it that's supposed to read 3rd Feb 2012 for Onechanbara 2?

Won't it actually be 3? The Wii and 360 games were actually different games, the Wii one is the sequel to the 360 one. It doesn't even have the same title, on 360 it's OneChanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, and on Wii it's OneChanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers.

I quite liked them in a mindless zombie slashing way, the way they came to bits convincingly as you hacked them in half was quite satisfying, and there was a deep combat system to learn - just no reason to bother, considering the standard attacks work so very well :) Okay as budget buys, but not enough variety to really shine.

I cry BS on the super robot wars release (even though I want it to happen). It'll be a licensing nightmare, just like all the others! Only the original generation games have a shot but they are fir PS2 and soon to be PS3!

Well maybe but seeing how there was two OG games on the GBA and one on the DS. The one of the 3DS could easily be a OG game aswell. They haven't really announced anything about it yet.

That might be the case, it'd make sense to have the series all on one console.

Though there were also 2 on PS2, so we should be on 5 now. Could it be an HD collection of sorts? It might have Onechanbara 1 & 2 from PS2, remade in HD for 360. it'd be nice to have the whole series available on current gen consoles as I missed out on 1 & 2.

@landlock: og saga is considered a spinoff (tho canon) and the gba games have been retconned out of existence in the main story by the PS2 OGS. There is also The 2nd OG game coming out on PS3 by the end of the year so I highly doubt the 3DS game will be OG based.

Well I'm no SRW expert at all but if Bandai are doing it themselves that is alot of the licensing sorted, some of the licensing should be easier now that alot of the older robot series licenses have return to there owners in Japan. There aren't that many anime companies in the US/Europe anymore maybe Funimation have some of the licenses I can't remember as long as ther isn't any Macross it shouldn't be that difficult.

Oh no!! Gameplay have it down for a 1st July 2011 release (and £24). I'd pre-ordered it and was really looking forward to playing in in a couple of weeks. Now I need to wait more than half a year:(

It was gonna be a bargain game bonanza, with EDF: IA due on the 14th July for £25.

@landlock: you'd be amazed at how anal companies can be when it comes to external licensing. The sad fact is that being the overseas branch of a company in a different Market means jack. Why do you think bandai visual US needs to announce licenses for sunrise anime shows even though they are both "bandai?"
But the biggest problem is with the really old shows. Just who do you talk to for those?

I bought Onechanbara on 360 because I thought (quite reasonably) that some samurai, bikini style zombie chopping would be a good way to spend some hours. Onechanbara for 360 was easily the worst game I've ever played on the console. Beware people.
