How Tekken Vita may work

Harada teases unannounced game.

Namco Bandai announced new Tekken games for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS at last week's E3 2011 trade show but what about PS Vita?

"It is something I'm interested in," Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada told Eurogamer.

"It's just that we have so much Tekken at the moment, there's probably not even a fan out there who knows the correct order of what exactly is coming out when. It's quite difficult from that aspect."

A number of Tekken games are in development. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 hits Japanese arcades in the autumn. Street Fighter x Tekken, Tekken x Street Fighter, Tekken Tag Tournament HD, Tekken 3DS and Tekken Wii U are all in the works.

"Even though there's a list of things I would like to do, and Vita is one of them, it's hard to do that at this point. But I'm interested in the hardware," Harada continued.

So, how might Tekken Vita work?

"The core gameplay doesn't change a whole lot because it's on some certain platform," Harada explained. "But there are some ideas that interest me, such as the GPS feature.

"There's a thing in Tekken called ghosts where a certain CPU character will have a player-like name and will perform in a way a human opponent might. They have a ranking and everything.

"So these ghosts, if you could perhaps leave your own ghost on a certain coordinate based on your GPS location, and another player, if they come to that location, they can battle your ghost or collect it or something.

"That would make it interesting to go to different locations and meet different ghosts and collect them. That's one thing that interests me.

"But, having said that, most people who have any interesting idea they really like about Vita probably don't say it in an interview."
