I'm currently downloading the 1.1 patch...2 hours to go. If this patch is another 9GB, I'll be really pissed off!

"Islamic–themed and similar textures have been deleted and/or replaced"...?
  • JohnCartney #9 12 months ago

@neilka A carpet in a brothel with Islamic motifs removed, apparently.

I'm just hoping that there wont be another 9GB Steam patch ;)

No full screen support yet. No fixes for sound over speakers, main channels still keep disappearing randomly with the latest HD realtek drivers. Maybe next week? At least my fragile mind won't be corrupted by Islamic carpets anymore.

No word on fixing the Xfire issue then? :(
  • Phishfood #14 12 months ago

Its really no wonder they had problems gettings this on the 360 if they gotta patch it this much. Its almost like the PC gamers are they beta testers for the 360 version.
  • Vortextk #15 12 months ago

What crossfire issue? Bleeding lights? AMD said they're working on that.
  • dfunked #16 12 months ago

Nice that game saves are now compressed automatically... The saves from my first playthrough alone took up over 2GB!
  • abigsmurf #17 12 months ago

Seems they've finally fixed the prologue.

The dragon section has to be one of the worst pieces of game design I've seen in a long time. It's very difficult if you pick it after playing in order, it's near impossible if that's the section you pick as you first start playing the game.

    @abigsmurf

I too started with the dragon section on Hard mode. It was tough going for 15 minutes alright. The rest of the 3 hour epic prologue was infact spoiled by that first 15 minutes.

    Man up.

No fullscreen 16:10 resolution in the second patch??? Oh c'mon, CD Projekt, is it *really* that difficult to do when the modding community has already released a hack for it (albeit slightly buggy)? :?

And why is there no New Game+ option so I can start the game on level 32, only playing it on Hard instead of Normal?

Good for you Yoda, you're a big boy now!

Others however lack your totally awesome, amazing skills and had extreme difficulty with it.

It's a tutorial section, it's supposed to teach you about the game's mechanics. Not to assume you already know the mechanics and present you with a section where you'll die in the first 30 seconds 20+ times.

Penny Arcade sum it up best: [link url=http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2011/5/25/

But hey, what do they know about playing games? They need to man up!

It's not about being "hardcore" it's about the fundementals of game design. If you throw people in at the deep end without teaching them to swim first, they're going to drown. If you throw another group of people into the deep end after a few swimming lessions, they won't drown. It's a simple concept that every other game producer grasps.

Even tougher games like Ninja Gaiden, Baldur's Gate or DMC3 ease you into the mechanics, giving you a chance to get a feel for the game before they get difficult.

Well thats great for 99% of games out that spoon feed you but I pressed the 'HARD' mode for a reason. I want the deep end, I want to be overwhelmed but with superior technique will overcome this. If YOU found it so hard then press the 'EASY' option and then feel you're way from there.

I shouldn't have to loose my experience because people found 'extremely difficult' too difficult. I too died serveral dozen times in the opening few moments of the game but perseverance toward a challenge and hard work I guess are traits I demand from a game.

Moaning 'cause you're ice-cream is too cold is not justification to call the opening of a game broken. Tuff, yes. Easy, no. I enjoyed the trial and error. You didn't. That doesn't in any way mean your idea of "game mechanics" is any greater than mine

I still had problems with the dragon section on my second playthrough and ended up dropping the difficulty for the second time!
Fair dos to whoever managed it first go on insane difficulty without even taking any damage, but I got well and truly fucking roasted!
  • rottingyoda #23 12 months ago

All that said. Really not looking forward to the dragon section on insane. Will be very tuff but at least I can say after 'yeah, i did that on insane'.

Least you die to well armed soldiers. I remember morrowind and those stupid slugs kickin the bollox outa me at the start of the game. Least I could run away, rob a few spoons, sell'em and come back with a mallet (that missed 94% of the time)
