Resi 4, Code Veronica HD remakes outed

Japanese magazine leaks details.

High definition remakes of classic zombie games Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica are in the works, according to a Japanese magazine.

Famitsu reveals Biohazard: Revival Selection for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which is said to include the GameCube and Dreamcast classics touched up for home consoles.

Resident Evil 4 includes Ada's Another Order mode, also known as Separate Ways.

Andriasang reports the game may be called Resident Evil Revival Selection HD Remastered Version in the West.

A release date was not mentioned. Capcom hosts an event called Captivate next month.

Resident Evil 4 – considered by many to be one of the greatest games ever – is a survival third-person shooter first released in 2005. Kristan Reed inked a 9/10 in Eurogamer's Resident Evil 4 review. "If you need to buy a GameCube to play it, then don't hesitate," he gushed.

Code Veronica first launched in 2000 on SEGA's Dreamcast console.

    Somebodys missing a 0.

    Great news...and superb fan service:-)
  • menage #3 1 year ago

Awesome. Only thing missing is Resi 2 and we would have the best Resi games on one disc
  • mr2ange #4 1 year ago

    About time too,

throw that peice of shit that is RE5 in the bin and play one of the best games ever made AGAIN!

Great excuse for playing through resi4 a 6th time!
  • Mr_Brown #5 1 year ago

That's awesome, I'd love to play through Code Veronica in HD.
  • Lotos8ter #6 1 year ago

"......reports the game may be called Resident Evil Revival Selection HD Remastered Version in the West."

Catchy name, sounds like something Google Translate would come up with.
Awesome news of course about the games coming to PS360.
  • Nevaeh2Die4 #7 1 year ago

i hate the direction resi 4 took
give me resi 1 , 2 . 3 and code veronica hd and i will be happy
  • AcidSnake #8 1 year ago

Sadly don't think they're coming on 1 disc...
    But great news nonetheless...

Any mention of added special content?...Already own 2 versions of Resi 4 and need some incentive beyond graphics to pick it up again...

Remastering The other is much more difficult as they used pre-rendered backgrounds...So along with new HD textures they'd need to re-map whole rooms to widescreen...
  • X #9 1 year ago

As above, 1-3 and Code Veronica would be excellent. Why would anyone bother with 4? It's not that old!
  • StolenGlory #10 1 year ago

My ball sack just got drained.
  • metallicorphan #11 1 year ago

as much as i hate to say this,Resi 4 played better on the Wii,so playing it on the PS3 or 360 would for once feel like a step back, just like playing Resi 5 felt like

but still,i am in for these, really looking forward to Code:Veronica

REmake for Resi2 and 3 next please
  • Nick_The_Dirt #12 1 year ago

Already an instant buy but if they where to add the Resident Evil 1 Remake from the gamecube then I would be in survival horror heaven.

Still you couldn't beat the voice overs in the original....

"Stop......... Dont open that door......" "But Chris is...."
  • richarddavies #13 1 year ago

If they make them both fullscreen i'll snap these up. Looking forward to more info.
  • DavoTheDiv #14 1 year ago

Woo! add move compatibility to Resi 4 and I'm all over this like a donkey on a waffle
  • coderkind #15 1 year ago

While I welcome the chance to play great past RE titles again perhaps they should be concentrating on not producing another dud like Resident Evil 5?
  • ithis #16 1 year ago

I hope they will include Move support, with it practically being there in RE4 Wii, it wouldn't be too hard no?
  • Bleemo #17 1 year ago

I will get it because I intend to play res evil 4 again some time in my life so why not with slightly better graphics? But it is hardly a huge deal. Code Veronica on the other hand sounds ace although if I am reading this correctly this is going to be the dreamcast version scaled up? not sure what that would look like.

I would much prefer complete remakes of 2-3 and Code Veronica.

I hope they will include Move support, with it practically being there in RE4 Wii, it wouldn't be too hard no?

I'm betting they'll keep that for Resident Evil Revival Selection HD Remastered Version Gold Edition...

    Stop talking tosh.

RE4 is _easily_ one of the finest action games ever on any platform.
  • sadakos_fury #22 1 year ago

I love these games as much as anyone but come on. RE is now like a band who had a couple of hits years ago and is still hauling themselves around with the same old songs. It's fun and all, but it's time to move on.
Any chance you could come out with something new?
  • Tyranix #23 1 year ago

Woohoo! Code Veronica was an incredible game.
  • Spong #24 1 year ago

It's odd to see EG implying that the HD remake of Veronica is the Dreamcast version. From the reports I've seen, they're giving the HD treatment to the PS2 CVX version of the game (replete with extra cutscenes).

    Still, good news anyway.
  • andywilkie35 #25 1 year ago

Holy shit this is awesome :)
  • Darren #26 1 year ago

Code Veronica is my favourite Resident Evil game so I'd love the chance to play it again on the Xbox 360 with sharper visuals. Resident Evil 4 is my third favourite after the remake of Resident Evil and, even though I got to play that on the PC in HD effectively, the conversion was appalling so I never had the stomach to finish it. Will definitely be buying this compilation if the reduxes are up to scratch.
  • GamesConnoisseur #27 1 year ago

Code Veronica on Dreamcast was a dream, its has good lightening and 3D was properly built in, the fun extra FPS mode was also worthwhile.

So playing it again but with HD makeover plus RE4 too, yep sign me on!
  • metallicorphan #28 1 year ago

Stolen Glory-IMO Resi 4 played better with the Wiimote than with the controller on the Gamecube or PS2,and after i played Resi 4 on the Wii i played Resi 5 on the 360 and it was very awkward..it was fine as third person with a controller in the old days but First/third(over shoulder) Person..it was annoying

as said,Resi 4 was one of the few highlights for when i owned a Wii

Can I buy Resident Evil 4 a third time?
  • ChadSexington #30 1 year ago

Resi 4 is a good game, but Code: Veronica is the best Resident Evil game.
  • BillyBrush #31 1 year ago

Good games, not sure i personally want to play through again.

Collections like this are great if the next consoles out are backwards compatible with this set. Hopefully they will be.
  • Bulbatron #32 1 year ago

This is excellent news! I hope they'll consider releasing the others on X360 and PS3 as well - especially Resident Evil Remake.
  • Phantom_Dynamite #33 1 year ago

I love Resi so this is amazing news but would also like Resident evil remake and zero as well
  • Phishfood #34 1 year ago

I don't think I can play RE4 again, I've already played it 2 times on Gamecube and once on Wii. I don't think I can handle another one just yet.

    Code Veronica I welcome.
  • richyroo #35 1 year ago

I really wish companies would wait longer before they re-release these with updated graphics. Its far too soon since RE4 was released, I have no intention of playing it again so soon.
  • Graveland #36 1 year ago

I hope Resident Evil 4 will be Move compatible. RE4 on the Wii is easily one of the best games I've ever played, so to play it in HD on the PS3 with Move support will mean it's the definitive version of RE4 on any platform.
  • gudnikristinn #37 1 year ago

The Wii version of RE4 is the best version of RE4 according to everybody who ever played it that don´t hate the Wii(so everybody sane then).

So if the PS3 version does not get Move support then i guess i should keep on recommending the Wii version.
(It better have Move support, cause if it doesn´t....).
  • telboy007 #38 1 year ago

The first time I saw the water effect in Code Veronica on me Dreamcast, my jaw dropped.
  • Kikizosan #39 1 year ago

Resident Evil Trilogy HD next, please. (The first three games.)
  • YenRug #40 1 year ago

I'm presuming RE4 on PS3 will have Move support, but Capcom had better make it work like it did on the Wii and not the abortion of a control system they cooked up for RE5. RE4 on the Wii had direct pointer targetting, which Move can reproduce very accurately, but on RE5 they used it as a virtual joystick; no matter where the Move controller was pointing, the targetting reticule came up centre of the screen every time you readied the weapon and then was moved from there.
  • dllord #41 1 year ago

Coed veronica is my fave RE
  • Collymilad #42 1 year ago

Good news but where the hell are the HD remakes of 2 & 3?

Do game developers deliberately make crap decisions or are they just dumb?
  • Bulbatron #43 1 year ago

Are RE Remake and RE 0 part owned by Nintendo or something? Is this why these two games have never been released on any non-Nintendo systems?
  • Jonathan_Fakenham #44 1 year ago

Hmm, yep, I think I could go for buying Resident Evil 4 just about one more time.
  • NostalgicGamer #45 1 year ago

Code Veronic Hd is the best Resi news ever!
  • sega #46 1 year ago

It's great to see Code Veronica getting some love these days. I always thought most people saw it as just some spin off because it wasn't a numbered sequel, but I always saw it as the true successor to RE2. After all it finishes where that game left off, Chris is seen again for the first time again, Wesker returns in awesome fashion, we get to find out more about who runs Umbrella and we return to the old eerie mansion settings. Such a brilliant game and an excellent choice for a remake.
  • Bleemo #47 1 year ago

"Are RE Remake and RE 0 part owned by Nintendo or something? Is this why these two games have never been released on any non-Nintendo systems"

Pretty much, although since RE Remake is a remake of a PSone game I suspect if Capcom were to do a Resident Evil in true HD Nintendo would have no means to block it on the PS3/Xbox 360. Which in turn would mean an end to such enthusiastic handshaking from Nintendo and Capcom employees as seen in the photo on this page.

I would be intrested to see if they add anything or if its just a hd port , i hope its more like the resident evil 1 remake that was made.
Btw the first few screen on eurogamer of resident evi 4l where from one of the first versions of resident evil 4 , think there where 2 before they made what turned out to be resident evil 4 , that trailer was really cool but never in the final game.

    HD Resi 4?

    Get in! \o/

    @silversun

If memory serves one of those old versions ended up as Devil May Cry.
  • DAN.E.B #51 1 year ago

Please put the effort in to make these games look and sound great Capcom
    these games deserve it!!
  • SpaceMonkey77 #52 1 year ago

Can't object to have RE4 in my collection again, plus achievements, because its awesome. However, I'd like Capcom to remix lesser known IP like Rival Schools Project Justice or God Hand, or perhaps take another look at games they cancelled before like Dead Phoenix (previously a GC game) again.

All of these, IMO, are more worthy of a chance, God Hand especiallly, as so many people missed that one. Remix HD that and sell via DLC and physical. I'd also at last like to see Capcom Classics Collection Vol 3 arrive, so I can actually play the likes of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Alien vs Predator and Red Earth, on PSP, iPhone or XBLA.
