I've played DA and Pokemon, and Pokemon is vastly superior!

Good job, now Bioware will know it can put out a subpar product...

Great, why try to make good games when the shitty ones still bring in bigger bucks?

I'm almost ashamed to be one of those. I'm still enjoying DA2 but it feels like such a cheap rush job to cash in. The repeated dungeons are shocking, it's such a poor job they don't even try to hide it. They use the same 5 or 6 maps with the doors hastily blocked up, rocks in the way or carts blocking entrances. The loot is always in the same spots and the map even still shows the walled off area. It could also be called Dragon Age 2: Lost and Found with the amount of time you are reuniting these absurdly careless people with their long forgotten objects and remains.

Having said all that, it's compelling enough to keep me going after 15 hours so far but I wish I'd waited for a price drop. I got the signature edition but the added content hasn't really been worth it.

Thanks dfua, doesn't sound good. I'm all for the new direction Bioware took when it comes to innovation, but reusing assets for main story quests is just lame. And there's enough other great games frankly, so I guess I'll be holding off till it becomes dirt cheap.

Enjoying DA2 and Pokemon equally, yes shocking re cheapo cut and paste maps, Torchlight does far bettef job with its randomly generated dungeons compared to constant reusings of assets. Not trying to hide the obvious of it is more irrating than actual reuses.

I accept that due to memory and manpower, reuse away but do it artfully or use alternative procedural generating stuffs, but i still do quite enjoy DA2, a bit like a cousin of Mass Effect 2.

Didnt make the grade but still quite an enjoyable company as part of same family with that certain values you appreicates, i dont think its contender for GOTY but also cant see it as 6/10 that quite a lot are suggesting. More respectable 7/10 to 8/10 would be more representative to me.

People always moan about COD topping the charts but after the banning mess of last week it's a real shame this company has a number 1.

I don't like making this prediction, but EA may as well kill Bioware brand in 3 yrs.

Now the lists are up, I just want to point out that Fight Night Champion isn't a new release as it debuted at No.3 last week.

Obviously the game was a little rushed to get out - but I think their corner-cutting was in all the right places.

Bioware games were never great for their environment or enemy design, so they've cut a few corners in that area and focussed on their strengths: great character design/conversation, and great tactical combat.
Both of those areas seem fantastically well done and meaty this time around. Calls of 'dumbing down' are just nonsene - playing on 'Hard' on PC, the combat is as tactical and satisfying as it ever was. All they've simplified are the menu-fiddling and inventory stuff, which bored the hell out of me in Origins.

I replayed BGII recently and the environments still look fantastic, I think.

What I find interesting about Dragon Age II is how, despite being a big RPG fan and having played and loved pretty much all of their other games (including Mass Effects 1 and 2) I haven't been even slightly interested in this.

I just hope for their sake their new audience is as passionate and loyal as their old one was.

    Killzone 3 hanging in there
  • IOnlyUseSkill #18 1 year ago

I don't really understand all the Dragon Age 2 hate either. I understand owners of the previous game are disappointed, the game is a different beast but I think the combat is much improved. Also digging the story, can't stop playing the damn game lol
