New Fable III DLC announced

Plus, PC date finally confirmed.

A fresh set of Fable III downloadable content, titled Traitor's Keep, hits Xbox Live next week, publisher Microsoft has announced.

According to Major Nelson's blog, the DLC leads players into three new levels called Ravenscar Keep, Clockwork Island and the Godwin Estate, "taking on new quests and encountering a mysterious prisoner". There are 250 additional gamerscore points on offer too, as well as "additional content".

It's out on 1st March and will set you back 560 Points.

Nelson also confirmed that PC gamers will finally be able to get hold of Lionhead's largely excellent threequel from 19th May in Europe – two days after it launches in the US. It's been a long time coming but hopefully a PC-exclusive hardcore mode and full 3D functionality will help make up for it.

Finally, the Fable Coin Golf spin-off for Windows Phone 7 arrives next month. Apparently it "draws upon the wealth of traditional British pub games and lets you transfer gold earned in the game to your Fable III game on either Xbox 360 or Windows."

You can also unlock three exclusive weapons for use in the Traitor's Keep DLC.

Hardcore mode for the PC. Thats actually laughable.

Oh and its out on the same day as Witcher 2. There goes any chance in hell of me caring.

    Woo, and indeed, hoo.

Oh and its out on the same day as Witcher 2.

And they announce it on the day we finally get to see Skyrim footage.

I hesitate to use the meme but... EPIC FAIL.

It's a very fun game, actually.

Did they fix the messed-up moral compass for PC? It seems like Fable 3 gives you three choices near the end:

    a) Be an angel, bankrupt the state and doom the world.
    b) Be evil incarnate, amassing enough money to save the world.
    c) Try and get enough personal wealth to save the world out of your own pocket.

Why the hell is there no "OK, I have to be a dick for the year, but please understand why"-choice, Peter? Why?! WHY?! Why did you make me buy houses and stores and shit and sit around waiting for the money to roll in so I can save the world and still be a good guy? I know you made a game called Black & White, but not everything has to be black & white!

@NunianVonfuch-i just realised that i have my bookmark on the xbox 360 page of news, and that's why i didn't see it :/

Hmm. Fable III or The Witcher 2?

Don't make me laugh Molyneux. Ha. Oh, well done.

Was exited for this game till I read the bad reviews.
Not even going to pirate this one.

With the PC version of Fable III arriving over six months after the 360 one I suspect most people won't care about it and it will sell poorly. Will it even be advertised I wonder?

Oh and this is the game which was supposed to show that Microsoft are still deeply committed to the PC as a gaming platform! Yeah, right, Microsoft!

Come on guys give em a break, takes a long time to fix such a buggy game ;)
would be nice if it had hires textures, higher polly models and full dx11 use but I don't think they will have bothered.

Biggest dissapointment of last year, for me. Apart from the fact it was a buggy mess it seemed to take 2 steps back in every regard - except maybe the voice acting, which was pretty good. Oh and the gnomes were brilliant.

    'Godwin Estate'

I bet it's WORSE THAN HITLER
  • MattEdWithCheese #18 1 year ago

why can't you just add hardcore mode in as paid DLC, i might actually buy that
  • WinterSnowblind #19 1 year ago

If you enjoyed the other two, you'll probably get some enjoyment out of this one. It still had many flaws, but I like that they tried to give it a story and the moral dilemma's are at least interesting, if not necessarily executed very well.

My biggest criticism is the focus on microtransactions and this DLC, despite the gameplay flaws - improve that and I'll be more inclined to pay more money!

    @DrMG

Me too. I already beat it on someone else's Xbox.
  • GaryHoward #21 1 year ago

Do any PC gamers actually care about Fable 3 coming out on the PC? [listening to the silent surroundings] No they don't.

  • LetsGo #23 1 year ago

    Does anyone care anymore?
  • Boki #24 1 year ago

Probably not, especially with LA Noire, Brink and witcher 2 coming on the same day.
  • UncleLou #25 1 year ago

Oh and its out on the same day as Witcher 2.

    That's certainly ... bold. :D
  • Haloboy #26 1 year ago

It's ridiculously arrogant if you ask me. PC gamers are fully aware by now that the game received a lukewarm reception on consoles and was far and wide dubbed as jarringly disappointing and buggy to boot.

So it's basically PC gamers once again being relied on to stack up the sales numbers that never materialised with what will no doubt be a piss poor port. When will Microsoft ever learn?
  • arcam #27 1 year ago

Seeing as Microsoft already asked the question to themselves in a memo back in June last year when they were calling Fable 3 a new push for PC gaming - please, please, please ask them this question, and let's see if they still give the same answer:

"Does Fable III on Windows signal a larger reinvestment by Microsoft in PC gaming? How is this different from the previous times you've announced a reinvestment in PC gaming and not quite come through with a robust offering?"
  • Murton #28 1 year ago

And Fable 2 PC will be release when?

Have to echo the sentiments of people above and wonder if Microsoft still believe that they're committed to PC gaming. They have this franchise which they say is cross-platform and the PC version is either released +6 months from the Xbox or isn't released at all and yet no journo will press them on it.

EG, next time you interview Molyneux or anyone from the MS gaming division, ask them the question that Arcam has posted above (comment #28) and ask at what point PC gamers expect to be able to play the full Fable Trilogy, I'd be interested to see what sort of answer they can come up with.
  • TeaFiend #29 1 year ago

I hope the mystery prisoner is Chevy Chase.
