XBLA Case Zero sales are 600,000

They're dead good and rising.

This year's break-out success on Xbox Live Arcade was Dead Rising 2: Case Zero - the downloadable prologue to Dead Rising 2.

Capcom revealed that as of the end of October, the game's total sales were over 600,000.

"Crazy! Thanks to everyone for making it a big success!" wrote Capcom's jgonzo on his blog.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero sales are so high that it's the fifth best selling XBLA game according to leaderboard activity, recorded by GamerBytes (via GameSetWatch)

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero added over 100,000 sales to its already impressive tally throughout October.

Before that, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero made headlines as the fastest-selling XBLA game ever.

In fact, so bowled over by Case Zero's success has Capcom been, that the publisher seems to be considering DLC as an alternative to traditional advertising.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero fills the gap between DR1 and DR2. It also introduces new hero Chuck Greene. What did we think? Christian Donlan awarded Dead Rising 2: Case Zero 8/10.

I thought DR:C0 was a great idea. People complained that it was a "paid for" demo, but anyone who played it could tell you that the thing could stand up on its own. It had loads of replay, multiple endings and plenty of challenges and quests. It's length was pretty respectable, and they didn't smack gamers in the face with its price point either. Hell, i've paid more for DLC with less content than this "demo" :)

I would be happy if more studios did this as long as they didn't get greedy! :)

EDIT: Oh, and im glad it did well, and the subtitle made me smile- you're terrible EG! ;)

I'd love it if companies go with a Case Zero-like approach. You do get a free demo out of it, so you know how the actual game will play like, and can pay a pittance to play a stand-alone episode for a good while.

So glad this experiment worked out so well.

It was a good product at a sensible price. Other publishers take note.

    Dear Eurogamer advertiser,

Everytime you force me to endure an ad at the start of a video, I make a mental note to avoid ever purchasing your product.

    Kind regards.

Hope other publishers take note of the price point when looking at it's success.

They are, don't worry. Although their notes might read a little differently to what you expect.

I wonder if the sales would have been 300000 or more at a 800 price point. We will never know but it would have been the same income. I have a feeling Capcom reduced the price to help the sales of DR2. The more people that buy this the more will probaly buy DR2 might have been a good reason for the low price. I hope we see this strategy for other games in the near future.

Only other diference for this than other DLC is that you didnt need the full game to download the DLC. Paid for demo argument is stupid.

Soooooo Capcom...about that DR: Case West then, how's it coming along?

Best 400MSP I've ever spent. Case 0 was a bargain. I don't consider it a demo at all and I'm not sure how this perception has come about. As already said, the game had as much, if not more content than many other higher priced XBLA titles and did not feature in the full game at all.

Was really pleased to pick this up, in fact so far i have played Case0 more than i have the full game. Shame it wasnt on the PS3, as i would have liked to keep the trophies of both on the PS3, but still, was more important for me to play the game :)

"What did we think? Christian Donlan awarded Dead Rising 2: Case Zero 8/10. " Follows link and reads review with a 7/10 at the end...

Keep meaning to get this despite plumping for the PC version of the main game as the price is tempting. Be nice if the epilogue is stand-alone too but I'll live if not as even if it turns out not to be exclusive forever I don't trust Capcom to release PC DLC.

One day I will get around to buying some UK MS points...
