SSFIV dev pitches Yun & Yang for console

Will Capcom US say yes? The drama!

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has flown to the US to try to convince his American colleagues to release new characters and balance changes as downloadable content for Super Street Fighter IV.

"Just now, I had written proposal about DLC for SSFIV ae's PSN, XLB at last. I'll go to San Francisco on tomorrow," Ono tweeted.

"ae" refers to the Japan-only Arcade Edition of Super Street Fighter IV. It features two new characters – Yung and Yang – and a raft of balance changes.

Last month Ono refused to confirm or deny the possibility of Yun and Yang coming to the console versions of the game.

"In terms of character additions, I don't want to be kicked by the PR," he told Eurogamer.

Its not a question of when, its a question of 'how much?'.

It should be a free download for console supporters (not that it will be, mind).

I wouldn't mind paying for new characters.

While over there begging them the fleece consoles owners, have a word on a PC version of the game please Yoshinori, it's pretty much finshed anyway in the shape of the arcade version.

I not buying Capcom games at the moment after that snub. Be my friend again Capcom...

Ono: "Please release these characters and balance changes as DLC"
CAPCOM: "My dear Ono, you're thinking too small."
    Ono: "Eh?"
CAPCOM: "You're thinking DLC. We're thinking SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV COMPLETE HYPER + TURBO CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION!"

:D It's the 80's all over again. I still remember that crazy edition of SF2, you could walk mid air and every time you did a dragon punch fireballs would fly out your character's sides. I think it was a hacked version.

I played one of those hacked versions, insane... constant stream of sonic booms across the screen.

@TonyCorleone - Oh my, a commercial organisation that wants to make money. After prising £23 from our mits in exchange for literally weeks of entertainment, they now want to give us the OPTION of purchasing additional game content. The slimy, crafty weasels.

Excuse me while I vomit angrily.

I'm more worried about it splitting the community. If they want to add characters and rebalance the game then surely whoever buys the DLC can no longer play against people without?

I've got no problem with paying for additional content, I fully understand the amount of work involved in including more characters. I'm not particularly keen on how much they charge for costumes though.

Should not be a problem, DLC like that is usually also available as a free version so that people can join games of others with the DLC as well. The difference is that the free DLC has the content but you cannot use it yourself, ie. in this case the game would have the two new fighters but you would not be able to select them, just fight against them if someone else uses them.

I just don't buy the costumes. I don't see the point. I can see why Capcom charge premium prices for them... because they are luxury items. Nobody needs them. It's a common pricing strategy, if a lame one.

The balancing changes would split the community though wouldn't they. My guess is that every player will get a free download with balancing changes and the new characters. So everyone will be able to play AGAINST Yun and Yang, but only those who pay to unlock them will get to play AS the new characters.

    @TonyCorleone

The bigger question is why do Capcom news articles about SF always entice moaners to come in an make the same douchetard arguments?

Capcom want to make money... Which games company doesn't?

They have some new content on the arcade version (it needed new content else why leave your console).. And now they're considering eventually releasing this new update of characters and balance changes to the console.

Guess what. You have.. The choice whether you wish to buy it or not. Are Capcom forcing you to do anything?

Personally speaking I bought SSFIV at a budget price, have literally pumped hours and hours of time into it and am loving it. It's been terrific value for money for me so if there's new content I'll be more then happy to purchase it

Think before you post the same old whingey shit

They can suck on a penis shaped stick for what they did with the PC version of SSF 4.

Bad09 you're always there in this kind of situations, I knew I can count on you in this thread too :)
