No more region lock for ModNation

Now you can race the whole world.

Sony has released a new update for PS3 exclusive ModNation Racers, one which removes the game's region lock feature.

"That means you can invite friends to race all around the world to a Casual Race or XP Race," explains a post on the US PlayStation blog. "Now find out who the best kart racer is in the world!"

In other good news for MNR fans, Naughty Dog has been working hard on the new Nathan Drake Mod and Kart Pack. It's available to buy now.

Dan P gave ModNation Racers 7/10 when he reviewed it for us back in May. Read his review to find out what the deal is.

Oh dear. That suggests fewer people bought it than they'd hoped.

I'm still waiting for it to come down to a reasonable price. There's only 1 kart racer I'd pay£30 sheets for, and this isn't it!

I don't know if someone wants to amend the story but the Uncharted mod is the pre order bonus that you got from buying the game from Game. They've just made it purchasable (is that a word?) and I don't think you can buy it from the UK store. It wasn't available in last weeks update at any rate.

@wizlon cheapest is at pc world [link url=http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/sony-modnation-racers-06200127-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-11

The game is really dam fun and has a ton of personality. If you like kart racers your really doing yourself a disservice by not trying it (funds aside of course)

The constant loading was grating but now changing the hub world to menu and general patches to speed up the times has improved things greatly.

I remember SO looking forward to this... had to sell it due to ridiculous load times - even the patch didn't help (slower in some cases) - I remember timing it from the when I loaded it up to when you actually race once - just over 6 minutes!!!
    No thanks...
Such a shame... I'll wait for the sequel...

This game is still the best karting game ever(imho), 7/10 is a good score, but it deserved more, and the loading times are getting shorter, and they aren't going hamper the fun gaming, and ~ £25 now, it is a steal.

The ModNation disc lives in my lounge PS3, just like MK: Double Dash lived in my Gamecube for 6years, and was only taken out while playing other games. This was the game that got the stragglers in our group buying headsets for online gaming, and we still play 4 player split whenever the opportunity comes up.

Anyone wondering how good the tools are, checkout my recent Bootna Eve Star Wars track from the Phantom Menance. It is not accurate to the Wookiepidia map(6 min laps), but I'm still amazed by the quality of the game's track editor.

But as for opening out the the Modspots world wide, I see this having some teething problems. Whenever we are online playing, the Modspots we end up in are always really busy, even late at night.

I hadn't bought it expressly for that reason. Live in Japan, so have friends here, back home and other places. It was one of the big requests for the game so I'm glad they put it in. Picked it up upon hearing the news, it's fun but the loading times are still longish.

Great! Now if I can just get online and not get disconnected a few seconds after......

Are you sure you've configured your switch / router half decently? When in doubt, you may want to put your console into a DMZ. I didn't have to do that personally for my PS3, but for the 360 it was an absolute necessity.

I haven't tried that since I don't need to do so for any of the other games I play online for the PS3. I'll give it a shot when I get the chance.
