Team Ico Collection gets Trophies

Move and 3D possible for The Last Guardian.

The high definition PlayStation 3 ports of Team Ico classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will include Trophies, super cool creator Fumito Ueda's confirmed.

"They've [Ico and SOTC] become HD, the textures have been redone to go along with that, and also PS3 Trophy support," Ueda told Dengeki Online (translated by Andriasang).

We already knew the hotly-anticipated PS3 game, which super secret sources told us will be released in March or April next year for around £25, displays in 3D on those special tellys that display 3D.

"Originally, we weren't planning on making them 3D compatible, but it was decided upon suddenly when we determined compatibility would be a possibility. Neither Ico nor Shadow were made with 3D in mind originally, but they do fit well, I believe."

Meanwhile, 3D support is a maybe for Ueda's The Last Guardian, which looks lovely indeed.

"We're still looking into this," Ueda revealed. "In its current state, we've pretty much used up the full system specs. However, we'd like people who don't normally play games to play, so if we can reach these people, we'll think about it. With this meaning, it's not the case that there is absolutely no plan for support."

And it may even support Sony's mystical motion-sensing wand Move. "However, even if we did adopt Move, it would be Move compatible, and not exclusive."

Sony put out pretty trailers for both games last week. Let them make you smile below.

    The question is whether both ICO and SOTC receive individual Trophy lists like the God of War Collection.

    @Crazy

    It will have to have separate support as they are separate games

    I like his reasoning for including 3D beyond just: ZOMG, it looks amaze***!!11!1

    Excellent stuff, man. The reason I have a PS3.

    3D/Move support certainly cant hurt, the more options the better! These guys are perfectionists and I dont see them adding these features at the cost of the games. Heavy rain was vastly improved by move imo (based on the demo, waiting for the patch) hopefully it will be the same here.

    @Crazyreyn
    Id say a separate trophy set for both games is highly likely

    This I will buy.

    1st day buy. Also, you know what's good about trophies? You can ignore them, but thanks to them all your PSN friends will know that you've played ICO collection.

    I tend to find fast paced action, in movies at least, a little hard to follow in 3D but Ico, with it's slow paced action and emphasis on architecture that dwarfs the player could be amazing in 3D.

    I haven't played SOTC (yet, it sits atop my pile of shame) but I assume something similar might be the case?

    Team Ico get the trophy this time.

    As a long-time owner of a Wii, a long-time fan of Ico/SotC and a new owner of a Move controller, I hope that by now developers know this simple rule:- "Do not assign to a gesture something that can be just as easily done with a button press."

    Good use of gesture: performing a slice to finish an enemy on Red Steel 2 or No More Heroes, where the direction of the slash is important.

    Bad use of gesture: Make circles with the Move to simulate turning a crank to raise a gate on Resi 5. I'd rather just hold down a button, thanks.
