Kojima wants to show next at TGS 2011

But what is it?

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima wants to unveil his next game at next year's Tokyo Game Show.

"I think it would be nice if next year I can do not just editing, but introduce my own new game (game design, script and direction)," he said on Twitter (reported by Andriasang).

The editing Kojima referred to related to a lengthy TGS trailer for Konami's upcoming action game Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which you can see below.

So, what do we know about Kojima's next?

In July collaborator Chiyomaru Shikura - boss of Japanese media company 5pb – said the cut scene lover was working on an adventure game, and that it's the third entry in "a conceptual science series". Sounds like Zone of Enders 3, doesn't it?

All Kojima has said is his next game will "challenge a certain type of taboo".

"The Taboo is a project for high spec machines that I'm hoping to do myself next. It may or may not be a taboo, but for me, I think it will be quite the problematic game." Plot thickens. It's Metal Gear Solid 5, isn't it?

Kojima's most recent project was of course Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on PSP. Oli Welsh reviewed for Eurogamer.

    MGS5, PS3 exclusive.

Seriously, I'm getting a feeling that spin-off Rising is just a money grab to fund new MGS.

    Metal Gear Solid: Shit Eater.

A covert mission set deep inside the sewers under Tokyo.

Didn't he say he was done with MGS about 3 MGSes ago?

So, a videogame producer announces that he's probably going to announce a new game next year?

I don't know what it is, but I know what it's not: newsworthy.

Finally more Kojima games coming to PC :D wow.
Long time ago MGS2, then MG Rising will come. Then this new game. Wow.

Kojima is a perfectionist. When he make a game for a machine with high spec, i hope he mean that the game will have wonderfull graphic, gameplay, sound on High spec PC. But also still looks good on medium spec PC :D

I hope it'snot more Metal Gear. I feel Kojima is best now when he isn't constrained by that series no matter how mauch I love it (not MGS4 though). A new ZoE or Boktai or a chapter in Snatcher would be great but a new franchise would be good as well because he always brings something special to the table.

Challenge a certain type of taboo? Judging by the still from that video - I'm hoping ist going to be some sort of groping or molestation sim.

who cares? i was looking forward to castlevania, until they showed up with a stupidly overlong 7 minute trailer. in typical kojima style.

the dude needs to realize that being a failed filmmaker doesn't mean you should force your failures into a different medium.

If it's not ZOE 3 then i don't think i care all that much.

No. It sounds like Snatcher 3.

"All Kojima has said is his next game will "challenge a certain type of taboo"."

That would be Metal Gear Solid Rising, and being able to chop enemies up and see their insides. The taboo statement was ages ago!

Please let it be ZOE3. The series has been crying for a sequel for years now.

honestly eventhough MGS4 has some wonderful moments, I was implicitly very disappointed by the game.
MGS4 pointed to me all the problems facing japanese game developers today, especially the lackluster technical and programming skills. MGS4 is on PS3 and we still got no streaming engine, very constrained environments, long loadings, a lot of ps2 era animations, limited ps2 AI...etc etc etc and all this they got help from assassins creed programmers...

japaneese developers gotta really be up to date technically wise and master the new pc tools for creating games...

when you see MGS4 (a 30 fps game) and than you play call of duty or uncharted 2 or killzone2....well....the engine og MGS4 is far far behind...

MGS6, so there's no fucking about when it comes to there ever beeing a MGS5
