I enjoyed that; thanks very much. I think, every time a new "generation" appears, every time we have, for instance, a new Elder Scrolls game, it's really the pineapple situation that I wish to see improved, along with AI and conversations.

@EverilCorwell Personally speaking, I would say that, Oblivion Gates aside (I hated them), Oblivion is a fundamentally better, and better-loved, game than Skyrim, and would benefit from a rerelease of some kind.

For anyone afraid of spoilers, it's basically the tutorial level, it's lovely, and you don't have to watch it. As someone who will never play it, but loved Ico and was interested in seeing what it's all about, I appreciate the footage.

Is it just me, or is this the first time a Zelda game has been so hyped, and gameplay footage leaked?

I've avoided watching most of it (although I did see a bit of the E3 Treehouse stuff via EG's stream) as it just feels like it's going to spoil any surprises.

I just don't remember seeing this sort of thing with Zelda before.

@Sunjammer Yeah, it's a bit painful, that one. Bioware knew that there was a huge amount of customer investment in that character. Let's be honest, they deliberately created same! They should have gone to much more effort with that image. They clearly have the graphical talent to do so. I was more fed up about hearing the origins of the image than I was about the ending of ME3, which actually didn't bother me as much as it seemed to everyone else.

Ooh, I am interest!

One of the main types of game I was looking forward to when planning my new PC was the flight sim, only to find that they seem to have gone out of fashion a bit.

Would this be the best choice for a complete newcomer?

I'm currently enjoying Oolite, looking forward to Elite: Dangerous, and, sim-wise, the only "proper" flying game I ever really dabbled with was one on the ZX Spectrum, which I got absolutely nowhere with.

Paul McCartney is a hologram in the music video for Destiny's Hope for the Future

EMarkM

@Firebird360 See, no, no; they really weren't.

I'm no McCartney fan, apart from Live and Let Die, which I still enjoy, and I have never been into the solo work of Lennon either.

But as a band, at the time they were performing together, they were pretty much the exact opposite of your description.

If you have an interest in popular music, it might be time for you to find out a bit more about it.

Apple removes the "free" label from F2P games

EMarkM

@NathanDaviesUK I think I might be confused. I used to think the + button meant that, but something changed my mind to believe it means there's a separate iPad version.
0 0

EMarkM

@melnificent Until I went to look, I imagined the genuinely free ones would still be labelled as such, but no.

Some clever Marketing bod will have worked out that that would be bad for them, I suppose.
5 0

EMarkM

@Folant As do Apple.

Not sure where the confusion lies.

Edit: for some reason that doesn't show in EG's screenshot, but it's been there for years IRL.

I do think they could have left the completely free ones (like the aforementioned BBC apps) labelled "Free", though.

Games are squandering their potential to truly immerse us

EMarkM

@Dynasty2021
I honestly believe that consoles are to blame. They have the bigger demographic, and these games sell, so the devs make money.

...

Consoles have ushered in an era of boring games, hardly different from the last. The same crap over and over, with a tweak there and a shine here. Their hardware limits what can be done in a game.

...

Sorry but if it were on PC, it would have been done YEARS ago. But because of consoles, a great addition has been held back all these years.
You do know we've had consoles since the 1970s, right?
