Hotz's PayPal account opened to Sony

Were donations paid to PS3 Jailbreak?

Sony has been granted access to George "Geohot" Hotz's PayPal account.

Magistrate Joseph Spero gave the nod for Sony to acquire "documents sufficient to identify the source of funds in California that went into any PayPal account associated with geohot@gmail.com for the period of 1st January, 2009, to 1st February, 2011", reported Wired.

Why? So the authorities can work out where, geographically, Sony should sue Hotz. The options are San Francisco and New Jersey. Should Sony find the alleged donations to Hotz from people in North California, then San Francisco will be picked.

Hotz denies he took donations.

The ruling comes shortly after Sony was given access to logs of Hotz's website, enabling IPs to be taken of all who visited and downloaded the now infamous PS3 Jailbreak.
