Ninty files suggestive tilt patent

Prompts handheld gossip.

A patent has been filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office by Nintendo, which seems to indicate it is working on motion sensing technology for use in a handheld console, is reporting.

Filed on 30th March, the patent describes "a game system [that] includes a housing to be held by a player", and then goes on to talk about motion over three axes: "...having change-state detecting means to detect at least one of an amount and a direction of a change applied to the housing." Which is all rather confusing.

But what it seems to imply is the possibility for a piece of hardware not too dissimilar to Nintendo's Wiimote.

However, Nintendo refused to be drawn on the subject, with a spokesperson telling, "We file hundreds and thousands of patents every year - this is simply just one of them."
