Divinity: Fallen Heroes put on hold indefinitely

"We all agree there's a great game in there that will sometime reach the players who await it."

Divinity: Fallen Heroes, the upcoming XCOM-style Divinity game from Larian Studios, has been put on hold for an unspecified amount of time.

While it was originally meant for release this November, an announcement on the Larian Forums states Logic Artists (the developer handling Fallen Heroes) will be focusing on its own IPs while Larian moves focus to Baldur's Gate 3.

"It has become clear to everyone involved that the game will need far greater development time and resources than are available now to bring it to fruition, in a fun and sustainable way," Larian writes.

"We're sorry for the players excited for Fallen Heroes, who will have to wait an unspecified period of time, but we strongly believe that bringing Fallen Heroes to fans should be done in a timeline that allows it to be developed soundly."

Logic Artists issued a statement as well, thanking the Larian team for its support and explaining the difficulties of development and release schedules.

"There's no doubt we've learned much that will benefit our own projects in the future, and we'll always be grateful for that experience. As our own team pivots to focus fully on the third instalment of the Expeditions series and a new IP of our very own, we wish Larian the best of luck with Baldur's Gate 3. We can't wait to play it!"

So, it seems like that might be it for now for Divinity: Fallen Heroes - at least until until Larian can move its own resources over to complete it.

There is a bright side to this, however - Larian seems to be full steam ahead on the development of Baldur's Gate 3, and the post mentions there's even some news on the game "coming soon".
