Minecraft: Mass Effect mash-up DLC arrives tomorrow

More than skin deep.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition's first mash-up pack is themed around the Mass Effect series and will launch tomorrow.

The $4 (about £2.70) download contains a completely re-skinned version of the sandbox game, designed to look like BioWare's sci-fi RPG series.

And everyone lived happily ever after.

36 Mass Effect character skins are included, with all squadmates, major characters and enemies represented. 22 music tracks from the series are also available.

You also get a re-themed Mass Effect UI for the game's menus, from which you can choose the texture pack for both Creative or Survival modes.

A pre-built Mars Facility world is also included. See Shepard crouch behind its low walls and shoot at Cerberus in the trailer below.

The option to buy mash-up packs was added in Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition's latest title update. More options are expected to be released in the coming months.

In related news, Minecraft's PC edition has just sold its 12 millionth copy. Total sales are now well above 20 million, counting in Xbox 360 and handheld platforms.
