Saints Row, UFC games for Facebook?

THQ talks social gaming plans.

Big THQ franchises like Saints Row and UFC could be coming to Facebook and other social gaming networks, according to CEO Brian Farrell.

Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference in New York, Farrell stated, "Social networking is a very interesting space. Our strategy there is that there is a lot of 'been there, done that' [software] on the Facebook gaming sites now, so you have to differentiate yourself. That's a big part of our mantra. We've got to give people something different or they won't come.

"How do we win there? It's either with production values or brands that we own and I think it's more of the latter. I don't want to announce products here but in the graphic there we showed some of our bigger brands – UFC, WWE, Saints Row. We can do Facebook games based on those and that's our point of difference.

"That being said," he added, "that user isn't always the user of our core games, so we have to be careful not to put the wrong games to the wrong users."

Farrell devoted much of his presentation to the forthcoming uDraw peripheral for Wii, due early next year. Eurogamer's Christian Donlan sketched out a positive future for the add-on in August.
