Age of Conan PC in October

Still no word on 360 date.

Eidos has confirmed to Eurogamer that Age of Conan will launch worldwide for PC on 30th October 2007, though the publisher was unable to comment on when we could expect the Xbox 360 version.

The game was previously pencilled in for March, and this new official date gives developer Funcom more time to spruce-up its DirectX 10-powered loincloths.

"We believe that by spending even more time and effort polishing and enhancing the game we will ensure that the game reaches its full potential in terms of quality and subscriber base," said Trond Arne Aas, CEO at Funcom.

"We are confident that our fan base will appreciate this commitment to quality. The prolonged development time reflects our ambition to meet and exceed the expectations of our fans for this game."

Age of Conan is a mature and brutal MMO set in the Conan universe as created by author Robert E Howard. It was shown recently at CES in Los Angeles as a showcase for DirectX 10, and features an action-orientated combat system.

You will be able to use new formations to enhance combat abilities and protect weaker characters (like Tom - chortle), destroy player-made cities in giant battles with siege engines, or hop on a camel and ride your oiled-body into the sunset: it's all here.

The game is currently in closed beta and Funcom are expected to make an announcement soon on how to secure a spot when it opens up.
