Wolverine, Killzone head PSN update News

PlayStation 3 PSP News by Robert Purchese

30 April, 2009

Scratchy Marvel superhero Wolverine is the growl of the town this week; the film launched on Wednesday and the game arrives tomorrow. There's a demo here to try out, and our review is poised, ready to strike. Hint: brutal but banal.

The other eye-catcher is the Steel & Titanium map pack for Killzone 2, adding an extra pair of multiplayer maps. The Cops and Robbers mode - does what it says on the tin - for Burnout Paradise might be worth a look, too. Expensive, though.

The rest is fairly run-of-the-mill. Incidentally, the Brain Challenge Bundle is a brain-teaser game plus add-on packs.

Of course! :( Although I guess theres a significantly (excuse the pun) cut down version here, that still gets an 18+ rating

But how does that work with PSN, it doesnt seem to block stuff when you use another account, unlike Xbox Live

I think the movie will be worse than both the film and the motion picture.

I can not find these oranges either.

I've played the Wolvie game (in work) for about 3 hours so far, and it's surprisingly awesome. The combat system is varied and silky smooth, feels very much like God Of War with claws. The cutscenes are fab and really cinematic, and to top it off it's as gory as a mother fucker. I'm guessing it'll get a shit review on Eurogamer though, as I can't see it being a game that'll hold up well being played for 8 hours straight (Which is how it'll be reviewed I'm guessing) but for 1 hour chunks here and there it's pretty great. Easily the best movie-game adaptation I've played for yeeears.
I'll definitely be buying it tomoz.

Just because Wolverine has the odd good special effect or big actor doesn't mean it isn't terrible. It features a poor plot, uninspired script, absolutely no human depth whatsoever, and every event is simply a plot point to initiate a boring action scene. Terrible? OK, a bit harsh, fair enough, but entirely forgetful and disappointing movie.

Got the game today, following an 8/10 review on a Norwegian site, and yes, it is surprisingly good. I also get a very God of War type of feeling from the game. You really feel like you're Wolverine and ironically, the game's Wolvie is more Wolvie than the movie version, given the fact that it's incredibly violent and gory. The action comes thick and fast, and so far, it hasn't gotten samey or repetitive, even tho I do find myself doing the same moves a lot. Might get boring after a while, but so far I'd say it's a strong seven out of ten.
