Warhawk expansion dated
Out next week. Priced, too.
Sony has been in touch to say that Warhawk expansion pack Operation Omega Dawn will be released on PlayStation Network next Thursday, 20th December.
The pack will cost GBP 3.99. It's set to cost USD 7.99 in North America.
Omega Dawn brings with it five new night-time maps, good for all the usual game-types, and a KT-424 Combat Dropship which can transport seven soldiers as well as a vehicle and pilot.
The full Warhawk - released on PSN in August and on Blu-ray in September - is a multiplayer third-person shooter where you can use planes, tanks, jeeps and your feet to kill each other.
We really liked it, and judging by the gamepage you were a bit partial yourselves, voting it up to an average of 8.4/10.

I guess there is no urgency to support rumble in many PS3 games seeing as it's only been released in Japan so far. It is nice to see that it is supported in the machine's best games though, namely MotorStorm, Resistance, F1 CE, Ratchet & Clank: ToD and Uncharted: DF (no Oblivion support as yet, sadly).

Do you see Warhawk becoming an ongoing MMO-type of game, whereby Sony improves upon the engine almost every 18 months or so and, from now on, only releases updates for the engine and new maps, characters, story chapters and multi-player game play in an on-line capacity?
Warhawk did not set the world on fire, however, from what I'm reading from those who own it and have played it, there is a great deal of goodness in there and it's a shame to have it end after a while, with no further development or expansions...until Warhawk 2 comes out.
Would it not be a better idea for Sony to just keep updating Warhawk as it stands and turn it slowly into simple their first digital download only game?
How does that sound, instead of buying Warhawk 2?
Just curious really...I don't own a PS3 but I'm an avid PlayStation fan, so I was just wondering what other people think.

So much more room for Stratigical Co-ordination..

I don't doubt that Warhawk is a good game, after playing it, but to label 5 maps and a new vehicle as an 'expansion' is a bit much....

And as the previous poster said, the 5 maps are all 'scalled' to the number of players, so each map shrinks or expands to the number of players in it, making it (sometimes) feel like entirely different maps.
You *really* have toi play it, to understand it.

Nah there must be better ways to use it. Atleast fully loaded.
