PC PlayStation 2 PSP DS Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Robert Purchese

20 July, 2009

As Harry Potter opens in cinemas, so the official videogame whooshes to the top of the UK all-formats chart.

Fellow film tie-in Transformers docks at two, resulting in last week's leader Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 being pushed to three. Wii Fit hops up to four ahead of Fight Night Round 4 at five, while Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood at six holds off The Sims 3 at seven.

Virtua Tennis 2009, Call of Duty 4 and EA Sports Active round the chart out, respectively.

There are no new entries in the top 40 this week, although Rhythm Paradise manages to re-enter at 21, thanks to a telly advert starring Beyonce. Yes, Nintendo liked it so much they put a ring on it.

Who, last week, decided they suddenly wanted COD4? It's amazing that's still in the charts at all, never mind the top 10!

The modern warfare game of the year edition is now 20-25 quid in most places so more impulse buys along with all the good press for Warfare 2... it does make some sense.

For some reason I'm still not buying COD4 without a demo.. although from the looks of it, I might be the only one left in the country who doesn't own it!

Hmm, I bet the teams working on Harry Potter were overjoyed when the studio delayed the movie for six months. Probably gave them enough time to work on it without many all-nighters.

Whats the next Harry Potter Film again? is it Harry Potter and the money printing machine?

It is amazing that COD4 is still in there, hence why the newest one is modern warfare 2 and not COD6, still can't see what is so special myself, but a lot of people seem to love it.

No, it's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. What exactly is cashing in about making a film for each book? Or do you think that 6,000 pages would easily fit into two hours?

Christ, I'd love some of their royalties. Every Harry Potter game released will make an absolute packet.

It is EA though, so the devs probably get next to bugger all.

Maybe the books are the cash printing machine which start it...

I think this pretty much proves the stupidity of the British public!

It would be interesting to see if shit in a Harry potter emblazened bag would sell as much as this game?

Having finished the game, it really isn't that bad. Nothing great, but it's a completely harmless, fun enough tie-in. Certainly much better than most.

You do realise how stupid that post is? Potter aimed at CHILDREN, you know the little ones who want the pyjamas, bed covers, cereal, lunch box and toilet paper of their hero. Sure a licensed Potter game is not for most here, but most here aren't 10 year old children.....I think....
