The Last Guy on PSN this month News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

4 August, 2008

The Last Guy, an unusual PSN creation by Sony, will be available to download sometime this month.

It's a bit like a cross between Pac-Man and Google Earth. Sort of. The Last Guy has you leading hordes of survivors to safety through satellite photographed cities while avoiding zombies.

There are 10 types of zombie-monster, not including boss characters, and you have a selection of super powers such as heat vision and various temporary scattered power-ups to help rescue the humans with.

There's also a time limit, and those baddies put the frighteners on survivors if they get too close, causing them to scatter. It's all very fast and furious, apparently.

Cities range from Los Angeles to London, and everything looks rather interesting so far.

Head over to The Last Guy gallery for some screenshots, or to Eurogamer TV for a couple of trailers.

I've been playing the Japanese premium version over the course of the weekend and it's excellent fun, if a little short. I'm sure the experience will be fleshed out with downloadable maps etc in the future, but as it stands it's a fun, quirky game that's well worth picking up for 500 yen.

Apparently this was designed by the guy behind the WTF: Work Time Fun game. One of the minigames was a simplified and quite ugly version of this.

First impression I got from this game, was that you actually were the last guy and there were hordes of woman chasing you... :P

It was a bad quality video, so I didn't really see any zombies. :)

Anyways, sounds interesting...

I like the ideas behind this one.. but TBH it looks a bit shit. Just some pixels running around.

Err.. yea.. but in this case I find all the graphics a bit tiny. Everything is so small... maybe it would have been better with a more zoomed in view. Love the use of Google maps though... some real time weather from the server would have been even better. But TBH that is just based on the movies... maybe the full game is different or has zoomed in views?

Yeah, you can zoom in this game, I think you even control that yourself.
