Super Stardust HD goes live News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

29 June, 2007

Super Stardust HD has been released on PlayStation Store today priced GBP 4.99, having picked up a whopping 9/10 review from us just a few days ago. Sadly there's no sign of a demo.

It's joined there by PS3 Store ports of Gauntlet II and Championship Sprint, both of which are going for GBP 1.99.

Not only that, but the Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo has arrived, along with an interview with MotorStorm product owner Paul Hollywood and Blu-ray trailers for Superman Returns and Full Metal Jacket.

The full version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma is due out here this summer, and you can read our impressions of the demo by stepping through the blue words.

Alternatively you can read what the game director had to say in our Yosuke Hayashi interview. That's his name, obviously.

SS HD is well worth the £4.99. It's one addictive game.

I prefer Xbox Live over Playstation network in general but the PS store has the potential to blitz XB arcade. Can't wait to play this and see what other PS1 games are gonna hit the store.

I have no idea why people moan about PS Store so much, XBLA only gets one new title a week, lately PSS has been getting 3.

Also look out for the new RFOM maps this evening

I can fully recommend buying Super Stardust HD... it's awesomme and even better than Geometry Wars IMO ;)

To bad there's not online 2 player co-op mode in the game, but that's a fairly minor thing.

If they don't tell us the Euro price, we can't report it. It's not a UK conspiracy :)

@HazyUK
bout 7.5 Euros (times by 1.5)

http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html

Ofcourse Sony could charge different amount for different regions, so that may not be 100% accurate. Suonds like it could be 6.99 or 7.99 instead.

EDIT: Darn I have to start reading ALL comments first...

Yup, as somebody else said, it's quality not quantity.

Although the Arcade has had many releases, only a few (C'vania, Geo, UNO, Doom etc) are worth (in my opinion) the 9/10 that Stardust got.

This game is HOT!
But don't go overboard...this is the first 9 a PSN game has received so far, so it hasn't been quality over quantity.
Super Rub, Calling All Cars, Blast Factor, Go and flow aren't making Xbox Live gamers jealous. I'd take POP Classic, Castlevania, GW, Worms, UNO, Eets, Catan and PacMan Championship, to name a few, over anything at PSN except Stardust HD.

Super Rub(bish) is not worth the money - but Tekken:DR, Flow, Calling All Cars, Blast Factor and Gripshift are all solid titles IMO. However Live Arcade has far more titles and covers more genres :)

Well actually it only cost about the same as a "big" XBLA game (800 points on Marketplace ;)

At least that was the price in the introduction period (first 3 months) - the price may have gone up since then.

LOL, they keep on calling it "time limited offer" to get people to buy it. If anything, that price might end up lowering in the future...

I think Super Stardust HD is the most addictive downloadable game I've played to date, more so even than the excellent Geometry Wars on the 360. One quick five minute go invariably ends up being a four hour marathon session as I attempt to best my previous score. It took me ages to unlock the second planet and then I found that you start with upgraded weapons which makes the game even more addictive and means I *have* to play it for a few more hours. Still haven't unlocked the third planet yet but I must, I must... I can do it, I want to do it, goddamnit!!! This game is the very definition of addicitive, in fact the Oxford dictionary should just put Super Stardust HD under "addictive" and be done with! LOL

amazing to see so many players , friggin 22k atm :)

ah and yes, the game ROCKS ... no phun intended :)

best game i have played in over a decade, just my type of game and the sole reason to why i bought the PS3 now, i got Motorstorm bundled for free with the console but i have barely played it.
