Splinter Cell: Conviction demo planned

Try before you spy.

Ubisoft Montreal has confirmed that it's working on Splinter Cell: Conviction demo.

"The number one question we've received is, 'is there going to be a demo on Conviction?' Yes, there will be one. I can't tell you what map or when it's going to be released yet. My lips are sealed," creative director Maxime Béland said in a community Q&A video (thanks Joystiq).

Ubisoft had previously said to expect a demo in January, but that was before the game was delayed to April.

Check out last week's extensive Splinter Cell: Conviction hands-on preview for more on the game, which is due out for PC and Xbox 360 on 16th April.

    Instead of giving us what sounds like is going to be a multiplayer demo, why can't we just have a small portion of the single player game, as thats what is most interesting.

    Keep your demo....

    I'm actually counting on the multiplayer part of this game as well cause that will increase it's value by far for me. Don't want to just run through the story once or twice and get it over with. Coop looks very very good so far so I wouldn't mind trying it out. To be honest I am more or less sold for this game either way by now.

    Devestated that this isn't available on PS3, looks brilliant!

    Multiplayer demos for ostensibly single player games really disappoint me. I have very little interest in MP gaming for the most part these days. Lack of skill of course, but mostly lack of time. I just want a really good immersive single player experience.

    Yes but the multiplayer aspect of Splinter Cell is undeniably good. Double Agent was one of my fave multiplayer experiences on the 360.

    This, along with Alan Wake, is the only game I see myself buying in the foreseeable future.

    @Jackface
    I agree to some degree. I've done MW2 MP to death, am now doing BFBC2 MP to death and I'm looking for something a bit more deep and meaningful. It's a long time till Dead Space 2. Not been hooked on an SP game since Dead Space. Hopefully this should fill the void after FFXIII.

    johnboy_johsnon, they took out the multiplayer that appeared in Double Agent (which was itself a shittier version of the multiplayer in Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory). Spies vs Mercs is not in this.
