Soul Calibur for Wii
Legends due in Winter.
Namco Bandai's revealed that the Wii will house a new Soul Calibur game this winter.
But unfortunately there's no world on a Euro-specific date yet.
Legends will follow the 16th century exploits of Siegfried and chums, as they battle for ultimate power and try to save the world from destruction. That old yarn.
You'll use the Wiimote and Nunchuck to fight, flailing your arms wildly to create special attacks and combination moves. And as you progress through the various stages you'll unlock master abilities and even earn yourself a nifty title, becoming a Knight or a Soldier.
There will be numerous modes to keep you occupied, although it isn't yet clear if one of these will be Wi-Fi multiplayer.
We'll keep you posted on what's promising to be a fresh take on a familiar universe.

But it will be no doubt.

The graphics of SCII on gamecube were already nice and pretty...
Let's hope they don't screw it up...

Will Mario Galaxy 'be shit' because it's out on the Wii? No.
Don't let Ubisoft ruin the console for you.

Now there's a surprising development.

1. Integrate controls properly - don't shoe horn.
2. Don't turn it into a short and unrewarding main game with 5,000 tacked on mini-games.
3. Include online play
That is all, Namco.

...and besides I can't take seriously the opinion of anyone that classes Spiderman 3 on the PS3 as their most wanted game

I just mean that they sound very tacked on and I really should update that most wanted games list.

Your job is done trolls.. you dont need to try to convince me any further.

edit: i assume this whole comments section will be ok to just copy and paste if an article is made about Rygar coming to wii exclusively too? in the meantime guess trolls can just carry on telling us that there is no 3rd party support?

And it being a weapons based fighting game might make it harder to screw up.
If It's possible to make a stylus controlled Ninja Gaiden on the DS look promising, then there exist the possibility for this to be good, right?

witness the shite that was death by degrees or that one with the cop and his dog.
if this were a ps2 game with popper analog stick controls i might have slightly more faith.
wii is ruining gaming.
Comment below viewing threshold Show
funny thing it actually got me playing consoles again other than pcs (gave 170 EUro for a ps2 that i played for under 50hours and most of them in multiplayer tekken)
me and my gf and people who didn't play games. if you don't like it don't buy it but
just don't tlak crap.
though i have to say fighting series spin-offs is a tried and failed formula.
mortal kombat springs to mind....

If by ruining you mean - bringing an end to relying purely on endless generic fps/racing games - then yes you're right. The wii is crap.
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Are you sure?
/interest raises.
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Sounds crap in theory, but this is namco (and not ubisoft) - so i have faith.

Instead we get an endless supply of absolutely shit looking FPS games, bad ps2 ports and mini game compilations? I can think of great things that the wii can do but unfortunately, I have no seen anything innovating. The opposite in most games even. ATM I really can't think of a wii game that sets the mark for what games should be.

Along with Nights, Metroid et al looks like the next 12 months could be full of really decent titles...
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Comment below viewing threshold Show
No, it's not. developers just underestimated how things would work out.
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Funny that, i think Nights looks awful
And was never a fan of metroid.
I'm more interested in smg and ssb. And this sounds really interesting.
Its amazing how so many people have judged it to be great or crap based on 3 paragraphs though.
Why are the fankid trolls so scared of the wii? Its almost like their lives depended on it failing.

1) Don't require limb sprain to operate (yes, I'm looking at YOU Wii Sports) or some convaluted control mechanism for the sake of it
2) Prove the Wii in capable of better looking games than the GC (Excite Truck almost made it)
3) Don't involve playing endless mini-games
4) Look like they cost more than 2 pound fifty pee (three Euros) to make
That is all, and nothing that everyone else hasn't already said so many times already.

Just because the first few months consisted of many PS2 ports, mini-games collections or games with controls shoe-horned in it doesn't mean it will stay that way. Believe me, the proper games are heading this way.
I've been hearing about many promising games in the past few weeks coming to the Wii than on any other consoles (just not on EG, cus we only read week old news here...). The Square-Enix games got my attention, Tecmo has Project Rygar coming, Capcom's RE:UC and RE4 combo pack quite a punch, Sega has things cooking as well as many western developers and publishers. I'm not even talking about Nintendo's input yet. Games are coming people, just be patient. And please stop bitching about games you know next to nothing about it. It just makes you silly.

"If by ruining you mean - bringing an end to relying purely on endless generic fps/racing games - then yes you're right. The wii is crap."
No, i mean ruining gaming by making fps/racing games more shallow and awkward to control for the sake of novelty.
Nights 1 would not work with a wiimote, nights 2 will not be the sequel we waited over 10 years for thanks to the wii and its carnival take on gaming.
the system has a place on the market but it shouldn't be allowed to simplify any existing game series.

Oh do get over yerself.
Comment below viewing threshold Show
I know I shouldn't because it's wrong, but I feel the same way.
I can't wait for more details on this. Playing the SC games has always made me want a real Soul Calibur RPG. Namco, please please please please make it a real adventure with a nice storyline, and a world to explore that has at least a hint of nonlinearity with the option to back- or sidetrack (unlike the utterly boring "one long straight one-way road from start to finish" that way too many RPG's and other games go for these days, blegh). I won't get my hopes up too much, though.

I got excited about SSX Blur - Turned out to be fairly shite
Got excited about Sonic and the Secret Ring, and it's quite good but the control system had me shouting at the TV yesterday.
Devs need to start thinking about giving us a choice with the controls, in Sonic you have to shake the controller to perform an attack which after a while starts to hurt your elbows! Why not give people the option to use the A button insted?
I'm in no dout that Soul Calibur will be a kick ass game but is it going to be spoiled by the controls? - my current thinking is most probably
Comment below viewing threshold Show
If there's one thing that the SC games have always gotten very right it's the control scheme. For novice and expert players alike it was always possible to create very beautiful, rich fights, with enough depth in the combat system to keep it interesting for a long while. Perfect controlability, perfect learning curve. Now add to that a sensible implementation of the Wiimote controls and you have sword-fighting nirvana...!

Yes, because Twilight Princess was shallow, Metroid Prime 3 (with controls for the first time ever on a console game close to those of a PC FPS) I'm sure will be shallow, it's not as if that's the epitome of hardcore games or anything, Battalion Wars, yes, that's going to be shallow, with its three online modes and combination of third-person shooter and RTS. Not to mention Strikers Charged out next week, which apparently has desperately though AI towards the last few matches.
This game COULD be good, if it's not, I don't think it will be fair to blame the console, but the developer. As the developer is good, there is no reason to believe this game will be crap, I simply don't understand the negativity.
