Sony has registered motorstorm3.com and started pointing it at PlayStation.com.

But not everything is black and white. "It's not uncommon for us to secure the URLs containing the names of our successful IP, and those actions should not be interpreted as an announcement of a new title in a franchise," a spokesperson told Eurogamer this afternoon.

Irish blog The Gaming Liberty spotted the registration, which is dated 19th January 2010.

MotorStorm was one of the games that introduced PS3 to the world back at launch in March 2007.

Presuming it is a new game where could the location be. I'm not sure about it being a PS3 version of the artic game and we've had the jungle and desert.

Maybe a marsh-like landscape of the everglades?

I read that the domain was bought long ago and this was just a re-newal of that domain.

Motorstorm and Pacific Rift are two of my favourite games this generation. The races are crazy, it does not take itself to seriously and it's good fun in multiplayer. Sometimes it's nice to take a break from brown/grey FPS no.247.

I have both PS3 games, and recently got the PSP game too. They're great. Although they all suffer from some really horrible difficulty spikes about 50% of the way in. Which for me stops them from being "brilliant".

However, if a third game is on the way, colour me in.
