Shellshock sequel due next Friday

Rebellion's Vietnam shooter arrives at last.

Eidos plans to release Shellshock 2: Blood Trails for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on Friday 13th February.

This is the spooky and brutal Vietnam survival-shooter about the lone survivor of a top secret army mission that was meant to retrieve a mysterious missing "Whiteknight" consignment.

Sadly he's gone crackers, and has bought whatever made him that way back with him, prompting a wave of madness to sweep over the rest of soldiers, who soon start killing each other.

British developer Rebellion of Rogue Trooper credit will be at the helm, and everything looks suitably disturbing so far.

This will be the first PS3 and Xbox 360 project for the studio, and Eidos CEO Jason Kingsley said the Apocalypse Now-style game was looking "absolutely lovely".

We've not seen much of Shellshock 2: Blood Trails so far, perhaps worryingly; still, not long to find out now.

Head over to our Shellshock 2: Blood Trails gallery for a fresh batch of screenshots.

I highly doubt it'll be that great, but it might just be fairly decent and solid. Apocalypse Now crossed with R-Point would make for a great game premise if handled right; we'll just have to wait and see how this turns out.

They kept this quiet since its announcement!

This is going to be a disaster, it has had little publicity and is going up against FEAR 2 and Killzone 2. Wait a month and you will be able to pick it up for £15.

    Ruh roh..

This week = sweet fa out, some people might have been tempted, a lil something for the weekend (generally Rebellion make good games)

Next week = Fear2 is out, and as good as Rebellion are Monolith are kinda, a little hawt of late..

    what a difference a week makes...oblivion awaits

From the clips it looks a little last gen, a little cheap, but so was Rogue Trooper and it was quite a lot of fun.

Well, having played through FEAR 2's demo, which is by no means bad but is pretty gaudy and not quite as solid as I had hoped, I'm actually more excited by this, since I was very pleasantly surprised with Rogue Trooper, and, quite shockingly, rather enjoyed the first Shellshock (not made by the same guys, but still).

Going on one of the videos I saw of this, the engine looks a bit dated. Hopefully Rebellion can mitigate that with some nice scares and a pervading sense of dread or summat. Rogue Trooper was lovelies, they can do it.

The Wii version of Rogue Trooper is due out in a few weeks too.

Hmmm, out next week with little to no publicity from a publisher who is slowly going down the pan... I smell a stinker. May check it out as I thought the FEAR 2 demo was kinda poor, but I'm not holding my breath for this one.

Interesting concept though, sounds verry Jacobs Ladder-isch.

    @deadmonkeyuk

Cant go against Killzone 2 when this is multiplatform... Think of it.

A game like this ppl that have een playing a few years now seriously on the PC and not just consolenoobs once they hear about it they will look it up, do a research and if any good they will more or less go get it. I know that if it's good I will. I just read about this within the past 20 mins here and in another 2 websites really quick and im already intrested and the pics I've seen so far look awesome and pretty sweet to me. I'll wait to see something more than that ofc though and then I'll go get it.

How the hell did they stay so quiet on this game for so long? oO

Perhaps spending millions on development and then not marketing or PRing a game may prove a mistake ?
