SCEE PS3 sales more than 10 million

23.7m worldwide, 27m PSN registrants.

Sony Europe boss Andrew House has revealed that PlayStation 3's global sales stand at 23.7 million, and that the console has sold more than 10 million units in SCEE regions.

Speaking at the graph end of the Sony gamescom conference, House also said that global PSP sales now stand at 52.9 million - 17 million of which were made in SCEE regions.

And then there's the PS2, "the Michael Schumacher of games consoles", which has sold 138.8 million, including 52 million in those all-important SCEE regions.

Elsewhere, Statto House mentioned that PlayStation Network now has over 27 million "registrants", including 11 million in the various necks of his woods, which represents a "connection rate" of 60 per cent.

Those 27 million people have been busy, too, amassing more than 560 million downloads for a total of $280 million in revenue. But will they pass those savings onto you? Find out as the conference continues.

    That a lot of people buying blu ray players.

    If you look at the price amazon are virtually giving away PS3 games at, not a lot of people are using the PS3 for gaming.

    Donnie, are you really going to compare the sales figures of a 9yr old product to one which has not been available to buy for 3yrs yet?

    The PS2 didn't begin to really get going until it had a big price cut. The PS3 has sold better than the PS2 over the same time period. The PS2 was not as expensive as the PS3 when it was launched.

    In fact, the PS2 was launched at somwething like $370. Today, that is still cheaper than the current price of the PS3. Try harder next time.

    27 million PSN registrants and yet 23 million PS3 with 60 percent online take up, that equals to 13 to 14 millions PS3 with PSN account and therefore rest of 27 million registrants are PSP owners?

    IS that correct assumption?

    Still not too bad a figures

    Mines lucky if the PS1 gets played on it (normally they go straight on the PSP) my DS3 has a thick layer of dust on it! Wicked media player though it must be said.

    so I'm guessing Sony has the 28% of the European current gen market. MS said it had 27% so Nitendo is left with 45% of it?

    Wow. Europe is more devided compared to the NA and Japan markets

    Japanese engineers are where the quality is and you know it. Now stop you pathetic xbox crusade. It's not our fault it's the only console you can afford.

    You also have some racist comments about xbox being for black ppl (which totaly lost me, because it seems to be for: poor ppl; black ppl; skinheads... well, everything bad, I guess) but those where too bad a taste to quote. Pure class.

    There are no figures for Europe, if the PS3 had outsold the Xbox 360 in terms of marketshare they would have come out and said it like when for a few months the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 until Microsoft come out and stated they outsold the PS3 and that was the last thing we heard of.

    They all like to make this type of statements as you only see some landmark figures without looking at the global picture, I doubt the PS3 have a larger market share that the XBox 360 and share is likely similar to NA.

    Wow! This proves, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that what donnie boy is offering is just honest-to-goodness, fact-filled, reporting. In fact, it seems, from this little tidbit ("branded a "TROLL" whatever that is. ") the poor dear is not even aware what a troll is.
