Sam & Max to return in 2010 News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Ellie Gibson

Telltale Game's website is hinting that detective duo Sam & Max could return in 2010.

A new page has popped up with the message, "What's new for Sam & Max?" above the date 2010.

Click on the star constellations around the sides of the page and you'll also get to see some concept art. Looks like a sci-fi theme is in the works.

But will the gameplay revolve around the same point-and-clicking we're used to? Here's hoping Telltale reveals more details soon.

You get a link to this on completing Tales of Monkey Island. If you wait AFTER the post-credits sequence...

Also a time limited offer for downloading the Santa episode of Sam and Max S2 for free.

I would be very VERY surprised if it was a different style of game from the other S&M (tee hee) ones. It may utilise the "multiple camera angle" more open locations of TOMI though. Hopefully not the weird "draggy" control system which is a pain to play on my laptop trackpad!

I hope they eventually hire some proper lights setup guy to work on this one, all the other TT games have very good 3D modeling, fair textures, but shitty lighting that brings the whole aspect down.

Completed ans enjoyed both S&M seasons, not played Tales of Monkey Island but it's nice to see Telltale putting these old Lucas Arts IPs to good use.

I reckon they will be using the Wallace/Monkey Island control scheme. I've got nothing against it. I use the combo of either clicking on an object to make them walk their or the arrow keys. The dragging is horrible. Can't wait til Season 3! My fave Telltale series!

I wonder what the chances are of this being a full single game. I like the episodes but i find its too easy to luck through the puzzles because of the small scale of the episodes. Its about time they did it, im sure they have enough fans and cash to justify it now considering how brilliantly written the other games have been.
If it is episodes i will still get it.

Hope it'll come to Live, absolutly loved the previous series. Much, much better than Wallace and Gromit.

Here's hoping TOMI comes to Live. One of the best things about upgrading to a new laptop was the chance to play it (mine was SLIGHTLY too shit in the 3D department) but as with Sam and Max, I'll have no hesitation buying on the 'box as well!

Very unlikely S&M3 will be a "full game" since Telltales whole "thing" is episodic gaming. TOMI is much (much) more like a segmented whole than S&M though, with plot, locations and inventory that carry over from one ep to the next, and works much better for it if truth be told.

Pity there isn't an option to play TOMI uninterrupted by episode breaks (ie as one continuous game), since this would be very very easy to do if they just allowed people with all 5 eps to play a "stitched" game... Maybe on a possible 360 release? Or a patch for the PC?
