Puzzle Quest 2 to be unveiled soon

First screenshot released.

Infinite Interactive is busy working on Puzzle Quest 2.

That's according to a teaser for the January issue of GamePro (thanks Joystiq), which will introduce the game to us for the first time. Well, the second time if you don't count today.

The only real detail so far is a high-resolution screenshot, from which we can deduce that you still do damage to enemies by making lines of skulls, and that there are some unexplained new glove icons.

There's no word on formats or a release date, but given the precedent set by the first game we'd expect it to appear on every conceivable platform.

The original Puzzle Quest blended Bejeweled-style puzzling and RPG elements to produce one of the most compelling handheld and downloadable games of the last few years. Read us frothing over it in our Puzzle Quest XBLA review if you somehow missed out.

I loved this on the DS. A lot.

    It's Platonic.

Anyhow, I absolutely adored Puzzle Quest, but then I bought Galactrix and began suspecting that Puzzle Quest was a one-hit-wonder. Let's hope they redeem themselves with Puzzle Quest 2.

agree with mkreku , spent countless hours on puzzlequest, while galactrix I couldn't wait for it to be over....

Argh, the horror! I hated this game but I just couldn't stop myself from playing it. Got it when it was half price on XBLA and it kept me busy for longer than any other time I've spent £3.

I hope it'll be a while before this comes out, otherwise it's "fare thee well, real life"

Looks better than that Gyromancer guff already.

Puzzle Quest was absolutely fabulous, but I found it a bit of a grind towards the end. As you levelled up, so did the enemies, and the battles just took longer and longer.

This is the same problem with Gyromancer, which is interesting, but the same problem - too much grind. As you get better the battles should be over quicker, not longer really.

It all became a real putoff towards the end. Galactrix seemed to suffer the same fate to me, and I really hated the board on that one, horrible stuff.

The screenshot looks the same as the first game so I'm not getting and excitement from it. I liked the first game but, this doesn't look like an evolution so much as a straight copy so far.

I still hope that they'll release the addon for the first PQ (was available only on XBox Live).
II games are still good fun when you are travelling with a DS or PSP in your pocket.

The best thing about Puzzle Quest wasn't the battle system (though it was very good) it was the humour and characters.

meh, i'm still getting over the drag that was puzzle quest. i loved it for the first 2 hours and gritted my teeth to get through the rest. tedious and repetitive gameplay.

Loved Puzzle Quest on the DS up until the ultra-cheap "constantly drain your mana" boss. Did not like Galactrix much, too much fluff around the core gameplay and the hex board did not give any benefits IMHO. Bring on a proper sequel like this, kthxbye.

Please don't forget the psp like you did with Galactrix. Home of the best version of PQ. Yes, I've tried them all. PSP download version (bugs fixed) is gaming heaven.
