Play as Altair in new Prince of Persia News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Ellie Gibson

21 November, 2008

Ubisoft has decided to reward Prince of Persia fans for their loyalty with a free downloadable character skin.

The skin will let you play as Altair, the hero of Assassin's Creed.

"Prince of Persia is an incredible experience," said Ben Mattes, the man in charge of making Prince of Persia. "We're thrilled to give our loyal fans another way to journey through it."

To download the skin, you must first sign up for a Ubisoft.com account.

"This exclusive reward is a 'thank you' to our fans, who can easily unlock it when they link their Ubisoft.com accounts to their Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 gamer identities."

Prince of Persia is out on 5th December for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

:) Naw Mario's hole is so stretched that you can litterally play baseball in it. Altair is still only just stretching out.

thanks EG, much more informative than the kotaku update. wanted to know how it would actually work as after reading about it on kotaku I went full steam and registered... with NO clue about how to get the skin. (^_^)

But Mario actually had some good games of his own before he fronted any old crap Nintendo made.

Does anyone actually care about Altair?

I'm replaying Ass Creed at the moment and rather enjoying it, despite the flaws. I'd even go as far to say that I'm looking forward to a sequel.

Altair being playable in PoP is just so unexpected, that it's fantastic! Nice. :D

I know, I mean who would have thought that two Ubisoft parkour-based games would cross over?

If you think Altair in PoP is unexpected , your mind would have ASPLODED in MGS4 .

In interviews, the PoP team have been remarking about how they didn't want to create a game like Assassin's. There was clearly distance between the two, during development. So, to see Altair being made playable in the other team's game genuinely is a surprise. (which there was no April Fool's gag beforehand, to spoil/hint at ;) )

yeah aren't they both made by Ubisoft? so considering he appeared in MGS4, this should have been inevitable rather than "unexpected"

I thought Assassin's Creed was good actually. Yes it was flawed but I really enjoyed it

If you use the Altair skin does PoP suddenly become a one mission repetition zone with characters plucked from a personality vacuum, filled with lepers and beggars whose only purpose is to drive you to smash your controller against the opposite wall?

And exactly how the heck do you do that then? UBi's site is a bloody nightmare.

It's mostly a flimsy excuse to access a wider consumer database. By linking in to your gamer profile they get to see the tastes and usage statistics of your games and other details about you. The question is whether this bothers you much.

I just bought AC, and Altair is fun to play as. I'm not sure whether I want PoP yet...although I loved the 3 PS2 games, so I think I may have to purchase. After reading reviews of course.
